I love my P229 in nickel/stainless.

But I've been wanting to try the Legion...
I just got a new-to-me P229 Legion in Black.
This gun was built in 2016 but has never been fired. I purchased it out of a gentleman's estate. He died in 2021.

I'm excited to give this one a try.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Nice, but doesn't look black to me. Black is the LE version. Is yours LE model? A 2016 model would be the old PVD.

12131: You would know way better than me...
No, I don't think it's the LE model.
All I know is that it looks different than the newer ones.
Is the old PVD a decent finish?
I've heard that the finish doesn't hold up on some of them?

PVD was the original. Current is Cerakote. LE is Nitron black. Some folks had problems with the PVD. My preference is Nitron. Least favorite for me is Cerakote.

Yes, the LE Legion would have the "W" preceding the "E" in the Part Number.

That was true. However, I owned six of the early Legions in gray PVD, and had no trouble with the finish. Lucky? Maybe. YMMV.

That's good to know.

12131: I saw your Sig Nitron finished pistol slide in another thread. That is sweet looking!
Should I consider that? How do you go about it?

If you want to do it, just call SIG CS and let them know you want to have it done. They will email you a label and detailed instructions.
