The PPQ 45 SD, which comes with the threaded barrel is listed as having the standard .578x28 thread pitch usually used on non-HK .45s. But the Walther factory barrel sold separately (282674710) is listed as having 1/2x28 pitch over at MGW. Is that just a typo? Makes no sense to have a .5 inch thread on a .45 inch ID barrel.

Yes, as I said, the barrel that comes in the specific SD model is .578x28. I’m asking about the barrel that Walther sells separately, for upgrading a PPQ 45 model that didn’t come with the threaded barrel. Multiple places list it as having 1/2x28. https://www.midwestgunworks.co.../mgwi/prod/282674710 https://libertysportandpawn.co...acp-4.60-black-steel https://rangeusa.com/product/w...pistol-acp-4.6-black

Thank you Very little |
For kicks contacted Walther online, since I was seeing the 1/2x28 in specs. Here is their reply: From: Cameron <customerservice@waltherarms.com> To: HRK Sent: Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 10:54:56 AM EST Subject: Re: Specifications for PPQ 45 threaded barrel - [TVT-NRMHH-096] Hi HRK, 1/2 by 28 Thank you, Cameron Gun Tech Walther Arms 479-242-8500 ext. 7 --- To rate this answer or view ticket history please follow the link: https://umarexusa.ladesk.com/ticket_35THePT7wD34D3gR

It doesn't make a lick of sense. If the thread for a .45 ACP barrel is the same as that of 9mm barrels, this means you could put a 9mm silencer on a 45 barrel, which would be a disaster waiting to happen. But, looking around the internet just now, yes, there are 45 ACP barrels threaded 1/2x28 And why Walther would make two different threaded barrels for the PPQ is just as puzzling.

I managed to get hands on a barrel today, and it is (drumroll) .578x28 Checked with 1/2x28 and .578x28 pistons and there is no doubt. The end of the barrel is too big to even thread into the 1/2 piston. Wonder where all the vendors got the wrong thread info from, but it’s quite disappointing that Walther CS is also putting out incorrect info.

Based upon HRK's post, it seems to me that Walther is the source of the error. Shit, I love being right. It's one of my favorite things.
