I have yet to encounter a Taurus that I've been super impressed with, or even confident in, but I'll bite. Tell me more about this modification to make one DAO. Because my understanding is that from the factory the G3C is a pre-cocked striker, just like pretty much every other striker-fired gun on the market.

I've definitely given them a look. My understanding is that they still use a pre-cocked striker, but the trigger linkage geometry is what provides the long DAO-like pull. I don't mind the striker triggers, I would just prefer something that needs an outside force to provide the energy necessary to fire the gun rather than a design that is just holding itself back.

P290RS was the gun I learned to shoot with, and it was totally reliable, but as soon as I discovered the DASA trigger, the p290RS was toast. If I want a DAO, I would buy a revolver. And I subsequently did (a Korth, which I gave away to a friend).

I've never had a reliability issue with my P290RS...as I wrote when these were new, a little heavy for it's use but the extra weight soaks up some recoil, great full sized SIG Sights (although my front tritium sight went dead), love the grip texture...mine is accurate for it's intended purpose...it was almost like having a 7 (or 9) shot S&W Centennial snub...the trigger is long as is the reset...I like the P365 better for most things but that is a striker fired pistol and both have their place...

I use mostly Speer Lawman/Speer Brass FMJ for practice and Speer Gold Dot all in 124GR for carry...

Good luck with your choice

Bill

by the way...I took mine to the range yesterday and it shot just fine but the trigger seems to feel different to me between dry fire and actual range fire...may be just in my head, I dunno...

mine still shoots just fine, accurate and reliable...

As I said, all you need to do first is remove the SA sear, its spring and pin to convert any of the Taurus G2/G2C/G2S/G3/G3C/G3X from an SA with re-strike into a DAO striker fired pistol.
Next, get a 7-pound Glock Blue striker spring or a Canik TP-9 family 9-pound spring to replace the current 5-pound spring.
Once done you will have a Taurus DAO striker fire cost effective to try.

Pls let me know ASAP how I can get to put you some pics.

When I try to add a pic, I get a blue blob.

Hunt for a P99C and you will be happy.

I all my P290RS family, I had to tighten the trigger return spring, the trigger bar push-up spring to remove the random slack in the trigger bar/trigger reset.
Also, when using 8/10 rounds mags, always after loading full, use a pick or a thin punch to push the rounds upward in the mag via the spring latch hole.

I'm not seeing where you said that in any of your earlier posts, but I think I'm following you now.

I know next to nothing about Taurus....do you know if this works with the GX4 or are they a completely different internal design from the G2/G3 pistols? The GX4 looks to be closer to the form factor that I'm looking for.

The GX4 had a totally different striker firing SAO.

Sorry, I am still trying to get use to the forum... so I will try again

To all my P290RS family, I had to tighten the trigger return spring and the trigger bar push-up spring to remove the random slack in the trigger bar/trigger reset.

Thanks for the detailed pics. I'm intrigued enough that I may have to keep an eye out for one of these to play with.
