Truth Wins |
Didn't see this posted anywhere on the forum. I guess with the return of the Python, the reintro of the Anaconda was inevitable. https://colt.com/series/ANACONDA_SERIES _____________ "I enter a swamp as a sacred place—a sanctum sanctorum. Looks interesting. Now I only have to wait until it comes in 41 Magnum! At the MSRP, I better start saving now, and will start looking for reviews. A superior pilot is best defined as one who uses his superior judgment to avoid situations requiring the use of his superior skill.

Colt reputation, European pricing and Dan Wesson revolvers are a thing of the past. I believe the technical phrase is "Harrrumph!".

If the Europeans bring Colt quality back I don’t care who makes them as long as it isn’t China. I would love to have a Python. I’m not willing to pay 2500 bucks for one though that I would be afraid to use as a shooter. CZ can make this decision easy for me. Colt reputation, Dan Wesson fit, finish, and quality, price still under buying an original one. You guys can cry all you want but if they make a quality Python/Anaconda unlike that shitty reboot, they won’t want for a clientele.

Man of few words |
My friend texted me about this today. He is beyond happy. He's got every Colt revolver; including multiple versions of the new Cobra. He said this time he'll get a 6" version of the Anaconda to go with the 4" version he already has.

Ive been watching for a RedHawk on gunbroker lately...kinda loosely looking for one in .45Colt/.45ACP. You'd be amazed at the stupid pricing right now...I've seen anywhere from $1200-$1500. For a Ruger Redhawk. S&W Mountain guns are even more. I agree, $1500 for an Anaconda is kinda crazy....but $1200 for a RedHawk is even worse. I passed on a RedHawk at the LGS last year that was priced at $850...I thought that was too high...now I'm kinda wishing I'd picked it up. ETA here's one example, with actual bids ($1301 right now): https://www.gunbroker.com/item/895633975

What in the world was Colt thinking when they designed the web page promoting their new Anaconda .44 magnum? A photo of a guy in jeans holding the collar of his favorite dog, vigilantly holding his .44 magnum by his side? It's just a bit too reminiscent of the January 1973 National Lampoon cover many years ago..."If you don't buy this magazine, we'll kill this dog!" All kidding aside, this is a strange composition for Colt to be using - I would never consider firing any of my magnums near any family pet, and especially not near a trained outdoor dog. A fly-fishing in Alaska scene - with Dad responsibly carrying his holstered Anaconda to protect the family against bears - would have been much more positive, logical, and persuasive, in my opinion.

Not to forget the kinda Cobra and kinda King Cobra. We have a 4 1/4" King Cobra in inventory. I confess the trigger feels superb, but given the issues with the reboot Python it's hard to place absolute faith in any recent-build Colt. CZ will have a ways to go to convince folks that they've got the QC problems covered and under control. -MG

I'm interested if they turn out to be quality pieces.

If they a)Could get a polished blue version like the original b)improve / match the quality of lockup, trigger etc I’d be in. IMHO, this whole series is an overpriced market play that is playing on history without anything else. Taurus has a nice .44 pretty similar “Where is the beef?” “Forigive your enemy, but remember the bastard’s name.” -Scottish proverb

However this new Anaconda turns out, I expect it will be made by the same people on the same machines using the same processes used on Colt's other newer revolvers. I'm sure CZ will eventually exert influence and make some changes but this seems to soon for that. This project would have been in the works for some time.

As far as I know the original Anaconda was never offered in carbon-steel with a blue finish. It was always a stainless steel gun. As the Anaconda came about at a time when Colt was already in disarray, the quality of those guns can be all over the map.

I love the old Colt's, Revolvers and Semi autos, but that's back when Colt was COLT. I was excited to see that the Pythons come out... Then they came out I've heard nothing but complaints. Judging from the past few years, I'd like to be optimistic about this, but the realist in me says there's going to be problems. ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot.
