I've always liked the CCO-sized 1911s (Commander length barrel on an Officers size frame) and have had a couple of the older 1990s Springfield lightweight Compacts over the years. Sadly I sold them for a reason I can't remember and they're hard to find anymore.

Surfing around a few weeks ago and I ran across this Sig C3 1911. For whatever reason I'd forgotten about them but remember them from when they first came out (as the GSR model wasn't it?). Neat!

Got a fair deal on it so I purchased it. Arrived a week ago and I've put about 200 rounds through it so far. I'm having to make some adjustment to my grip as the first rounds were hitting left. I assume the shorter grip has something to do with that. More recent rounds are much better so I'm learning.

Anyway, while not a "classic" like the P220, P225, P226, etc., I like it and will likely keep it (I say likely because, as life has a funny way of happening, right after I purchased this I stumbled upon one of the 90s Springfield Compacts at auction. Placed a bid and, for $350, it was mine. Just waiting for it to arrive at my FFL).

Thought I'd share and see if there are any other C3 or CCO owners out there? Thanks.

I just recently bought a C3 just like yours, have put a fair amount of fmj and various defense ammo thru it with no problems. I like the Sig 1911's, I also have an ultra compact and a Nightmare Carry, they have all been reliable.

Bought one when they first came out and have loved it ever since especially after putting a set of Esmeralda’s thin grips on it. It was my primary carry gun for several years. Has always been 100% reliable with whatever I have shot through it, can’t say the same about my Colt Defender. Latest carry load has been Federal 230gr HST’s. It’s a great gun, but started carrying a Colt Defender, the shorter barrel just made it easier for OWB. Then I started carrying various P365 variations. It’s one I haven’t shot or carried in years and I’m not shooting IDPA league with a 1911 since moving to Alaska. Every time I think of thinning the herd, I look at it and go, “No I can’t sell a reliable, good shooting 1911…”

Like the CCO platform too.

Had, and sold, a C3. Missed it. Picked up a Nickel model a few years later, has the steel frame instead of the aluminum. really enjoy it, every once in a while I think about selling it, but it shoots so well, just keep hanging onto it.

I have a Dan Wesson Vigil CCO in .45, fantastic gun and heck of a value when they were available. Wish they weren’t discontinued as I would like to have its 9mm brother as well.
