Smooth face trigger for G43? Login/Join

Problem: I Hate Glock grooved triggers.

I just picked a G43 for shooting GSSF pocket pistol class. (Indoor matches get you in the drawing for a pistol certificate)
In searching around I can’t find a factory option. GSSF mandates that the gun parts be factory unless shooting Unlimited. This makes Apex, Zev, etc. triggers not an option.

Is my only choice pulling a smooth trigger from a 17 trigger bar and pinning it on the trigger bar for the 43? In the match itself it’s no big deal but in high volume practice those grooved triggers bug the hell out of me.

You might have a difficult time removing the trigger from the bar without destroying. I thought about doing the same thing. The only thing I could come up with is installing a roll pin after drilling a new hole for the trigger bar but I didn't want to take a chance and screw up both triggers. Not that it is difficult but I would prefer to have a drill press and a vise to do the best job.

Another option would be, and I hate to say it, but to Dremel/sand/polish, the grooves down on the factory trigger.

This is what I did for my 43/43x/48. I was lucky and had several G17 trigger/trigger bars laying around. I just smack the pin to the blind side where I can see where it is. Then, I go from the blind side with a small punch and punch the pin out. It makes a small hole but looks fine, IMO. I then replace with a smooth OEM shoe and put the pin back in. I just tap the pin flush. I've never had one move after installation.

I, like you, hate the serrated OEM triggers.

Johnny Glocks has a good tutorial on how to remove the trigger shoe.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oXnQP85v64

And a post on the Glock Talk forum regarding legality in GSSF matches. https://www.glocktalk.com/thre...r-shoe-swap.1686849/

Edited for clarity below - as BennerP220 pointed out the trigger bars on the 42 & 43 are different sizes.

I have a G42 trigger bar on the way to swap out the shoe only to my 43 to get a smooth shoe and I also purchased a smooth shoe from Johnny Glock to try on my 48. If they prove to be unsafe and/or don't work, it's relatively cheap to just buy another stock trigger bar.

Are you swapping out the trigger shoe from the 42 trigger bar to the 43? The trigger bar for the 42 is smaller than the 43 and will not work, just FYI.

Yes - just swapping the shoe out. I've got a 42 as well and know the bars are different sizes. This way I have an extra 42 trigger bar if I ever need it for some reason. Thanks for the head-up though and I edited my previous post for clarity so as not confuse anyone.

No problem. I made that mistake and was just hoping to save you some disappointment if you weren't aware. You have done better homework than I did back then, LOL.

Para, while I would love an Overwatch trigger, I couldn’t use it in GSSF. Even though the bar is OEM, the shoe isn’t.

I33571, thanks for the link to the instruction video & the GSSF exchange.
Saves me from making my own inquiry. I thought it would be ok since you’re still using OEM parts, albeit assembled differently.

Time to dig out a smooth faced trigger from the parts pile.
Appreciate it guys!

I have a factory G17 smooth trigger shoe already prepped and ready to install on a trigger bar if you want it. Let me know.

Thank you for the generous offer Nismo but I’ve got a smooth faced extra.
I bought a new trigger bar anticipating using it on a gun that I was waiting to get shipped. It came with one on it.
If I screw it up, I’ll send you an email. Smile

I own a lot of Glocks, but for some reason the one on my G48 is just horrible. I assume its the same as the one on the 43X.

I am going to take a file to it until I can buy a new one. Ill have to look into some of the suggestions in this thread
