hello,

i got a p226 that i got in the early 90's. one of the mag polymer foot/base plate broke at the lip and need to be replace. the problem is that i cant find anywhere that has this type. there is NO hole for a locking pin and simply tightly slides into place. i do believe but not 100% sure i can use the more modem plates with the hole and lock pin, however, everywhere i have looked (ebay, etc) do sell these plate but they dont seem to come with the center pin locking mechanism.

are there alternatives?

thanks

Doesn't sound like factory mag at all. Early 90s P226 mags are German dovetailed ones with flush metal base, not polymer. And, they all have the hole for the inner liner's locking tab. You have pic of yours?

Ram-line is trash. There is no reason to use it, except as a doorstop. I put them in the same trash as the U.S.A. brand mags of that era. Current P226 mags are very inxepensive and reliable. Check Greg Cote's inventory for them, if you need some.

you know now that you mentioned how crappy the usa branded sig mags are, i just noticed i have 3 oem usa made sig mags that have an extremely hard time fitting 10 rd easily. it fits 9 fine but that 10th rd is a struggle although with some coercion will go. is this the reason why they are considered trash?

my 15 rd sig mags seems fine and dont have the usa mark on them

I believe he means "USA" brand mags. The USA OEM Sig mags are gtg and the springs are just stiff. You might try using something like a Maglula loader. I know it helps me with tough springs. Also, Promags are absolute trash, even has it in their name-

yeah i actually do use the magula. its the only way to get that 10th rd in without busting up my thumb

not sure if it helps but i keep dummy loads in them to try and loosen up that spring
