Ruger Security-Six rescue with some questions

You should consider either having CCR coat your Ruger or have a reputable refinsher re blue it in a beadblast blue.

I considered it, but it's a working gun, and I don't mind the wear. It would probably cost me as much or more than I paid for the gun to refinish it, and then I'd be afraid to use it. I keep it well-lubed so it's not going to rust. The front sight is kind of buggered...I wouldn't mind replacing that, but you have to drill it and that process kind of scares me.

You'll need to remove the pin first before fitting the Hogue rubber/wood grips on.

That was my first revolver. I liked the Hogue rubber grips on it. they looked good and functioned well. I always found the factory wood grips to be a bit small, and I have little hands.

Based on your picture most of it looks like holster wear not abuse. I think your right, oil it, shoot it, let keep you warm, if the need be.

I can't see the front sight but, it's a 2.75 bl. with a fixed rear. Would I pay to fix it....?

Yeah, it doesn't show in the pics, but it kinda looks like somebody took a file to it at some point...but just on the edges, and unevenly. The top is still properly indexed with the rear notch, so it works...it's just a little distracting. I probably won't mess with it.
