As stated in subject, I am looking to buy. Are there any revisions throughout that model number that one would want to avoid for any reason? As most members here know, the model number breakdown is: P220 "all stainless" Elite with 5" barrel and rear adjustable sight in 10mm Single Action Only. For me the 10mm and the SAO are features I am not familiar with (don't own either one yet). After shooting the P220 DA/SA 45 all stainless, I am hooked on this frame. Thanks

You have picked a damn good pistol but Sig does NOT make any all steel 220s except in the 220R5-10-Legion any more. Good luck with the hunt, keep an eye on the classifieds here as they do come up but seldom. This post should probably be in the classifieds. Being new to the forum you may have a hard time buying here.

I picked up two in the past 6 months. I've passed on several more. Recently one went for 1200$ which was a little much for me but not a bad price by any means. Keep an eye out on the forums, they come up fairly routinely. 10 years to retirement! Just waiting!

I just bought this exact pistol last week from an original owner who literally has put only 40 rds thru it. I paid $1200 for it but being that it came with 5 mags and a kydex holster, I don’t feel bad about the price at all. It is all steel gun and weighs in at 49 oz fully loaded. I must say, it is the only gun I’ve dver had trouble racking the slide on...... that is one stout recoil spring. But then again, I’m not as young...or strong as I use to be. Good luck with your search......this gun is worth the time.

It along with most of the 10mm P220s are/were Lipsey's exclusives, the distributor that worked a deal with SIG to be the primary point for SIG's 10mm offerings. At this time SIG has stopped production on that version but SIG being SIG and Lipsey's keeping its options open (and listening to feedback from its member dealers), it could always be brought back out of retirement. Probably not going to be any time soon however; SIG currently is way too occupied spitting out poly P365s and P320s. -MG

Thanks for all the info! When I posted I was actually just "looking". I figured I would first get some good advice here and decide if I want to move to the "WTB" stage. The price information was especially helpful so I have some idea of what to expect on that. I did check the Sig website and saw these two models: 220R5-10-LEGION-SAO 220R5-10-LEGION As ACP1 noted, they are both stainless frame. I noticed they are both fixed sights which could be pro or con depending on use. Thanks

Gracie Allen is my personal savior! |
That seems to be an ongoing problem for Lipsey's specials at this time. I'm waiting on a couple of Rugers I hope will pop up and apparently their production capacity is pretty tied up too. Then again, I'm sure the same demand is keeping Lipsey's pretty busy in it's role as a distributor as well. Fingers crossed for better days for the buyers!

Impressive collection for sure! I only have two and have only shot one. Which one do you like the best of them all?

Thanks for all the useful information. I finally decided to buy a 220R5-10-SSE-SAO that was dated 01-Sep-2015. I paid north of $1200, but ended up with previously owned never fired specimen with no disappointments. Now the quest is on for a P200 series 9mm SAO. I did post on the classified for this one. Thanks

I posted on your ad. but what specific model(s) falls in the P200 series? “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”
