I got a unexpected bonus from work so I'm looking to get another pistol, I have a Sig p320 subcompact, I'd like to get a little bit bigger gun that I can conceal carry, I know there is no real answer to this question but here goes, if you had a $1000 to purchase a gun, what would you get? the choices are mind boggling.

Thinking you can't go wrong with a P226.

Considering you have the P320SC and still want to conceal carry the next one:

-P320 X-Carry or P320 Legion X-Carry
-An X-Compact grip module and some 15-round magazines to mix up the configuration of your exiting SC.

Yup… P226 is awesome. If you want just a bit smaller the P229 is a good choice as well. However, if you enjoy customizing your guns, the P226 has better selection of both factory and aftermarket upgrades. Weigh my opinion as a bias for the P226 platform (just sold two of my 8). If I knew more about other brands, I could recommend one of them but, for me, if its not Sig, I don’t want to mess with learning a new platform.

The P320 subcompact has a 3.6" barrel so the next size up is 3.9" barrel of the Compact/Carry model. You could buy the Xchange kit for the pistol you have online for the size you want and not have to buy a new pistol. You could also buy an Xchange kit in .357Sig or .40S&W if you wanted to change caliber. Look in the classifieds if you just want a Compact top end for your subcompact grip module. No new magazines needed then.

Even though I'm a fan of the P226 and DA/SA pistols, since you have a P320 I'm also leaning toward the P320 compact or even the carry one since you mentioned carrying this new gun... or even the big hoss a standard P320.

So, my advice for what it's worth... stick with the platform you have. I have a P320 compact that I have used in several very formal classes and qualified with it twice on a very difficult shooting test.

CZ PCR from Cajun Gun Works. You will need just a bit more money but what the hell.

Glock 19. Take the remaining money and spend on a good holster/belt/ammo and a good self defense course/class if you haven’t already taken one before.

With $1k you could probably add a compact & a full size conversion to your P320.

$1K right now can get you two P320s, so perhaps a compact & a full size? You could swap slides to make a carry size (i.e., compact slide w/ full size grip).

You could also buy a P320 and a P365. There's a reason why Sig discontinued the P320SC.

If you don't already have a lot of ammo, then as Tarheelfan84 posted, $1K will get you a nice gun w/ plenty leftover for a case of ammo. 1K rounds of 9mm FMJ currently runs a little over $300.

In my humble opinion, the answer to your question is "do you prefer the P365XL, the P320 Compact or the P320 Carry?" Lights, red dot sights and holsters could take a pretty big bite out of the rest of that budget pretty quickly, and a supply of magazines is always a must.

On the other hand, $1,000 should give you a lot of options in that category. In addition to the other pistols mentioned here, I'd be tempted to take a look at the CZ75 Compact (B or D), or maybe a used Colt Commander on one of the online auction sites.

Welcome to the forum!

Having shot one this weekend, I'd be sorely tempted to try a 365 Macro. Very pleasant handling little gun.

Check out the Handgunhero site.
Using top-right button add/remove different guns to see their sizes compared to what you already have.

Then pick the one that fits your carry need best in terms of size, and closest in terms of the operating controls for the Sig you already have

https://www.handgunhero.com/co...vs-sig-sauer-p365-xl

On the other hand, if you want to pick something up
as 'platform' for modifications/caliber exchanges, etc., with huge after-market support, yet carry-possible:

that would be either a Glock G29 (or other glocks, but gen 3 or 4, not gen 5) or a 1911 commander size with a forged frame.

Finally, if you do not want something particularly easy to carry, but good for reloading tinkering/etc -- that would be a revolver with 45 Long colt/45 ACP extra cylinder (so these would be the single action Ruger revolvers)

One of my very favorites is the H&K p2000sk, kinda small but not micro. The standard LEM suites me fine for carry. I have one in 40 & 9mm.

That CZ pcr is nice also, just a bit larger.

HK P30 would be my choice as well. I would also recommend you pick up a X-Compact grip module from Gray Guns or Wilson Combat. Put your P320 slide on that and you have a nice carry option. You will just need to get some 15 rd mags as the sc mags are too short.

Sig P365 X-Macro, should run around $800 leaving you money to buy a nice holster and ammo.

Welcome here. That's a very broad post. Could you provide us a bit more info on your shooting background and experience?

At least handle a P229 before choosing.
