I guess I was "inspired" to make this by the 'Favorite SIG pistol' thread. Either that or I just wanted to be a damn contrarian or some such other nonsense. We all know (or should know by now) that not every pistol design is a winner, regardless of which storied company designed/made the thing. Sometimes a gun just doesn't work for you. And certainly SIG has had its share of failures. And even clunkers. Some like the infamous Mosquito wasn't even made by SIG. Others were sales flops, like the P227 and the more recent P225-A1. Still others went through hasty revisions to address frustrating problems, like the P290/290RS, before finally finding itself ultimately cast into oblivion anyways. Of course this leads us into SIG's all too regular modern-day practice of creating a gun design or variant, only to have it morph into something else that again leaves the owner of the prior version wonder if they got left at the altar when it comes to product support. While it's seems more common with SIG long guns (witness their past attempts at tactical bolt guns or their feeble attempt at replicating an American-made version of the Swiss 500 series rifle, for example), this practice has infested their pistols as well. Sweat finding additional box magazines lately? Or feebly rummaging through Numrich's or eBay or Gunbroker to find a long discontinued part or even a donor pistol? Whether it's something like the aforementioned P227, the somewhat dead-end Gen1 MPX, the very dead-end rifle-based P556 and P516, any number of unceremoniously dumped flavors of the their traditional-style 1911s, or any other model that the company kicked to the curb from the distant past to the nearer present, SIG's all too prevalent practice of dropping designs can be infuriating to owners of those guns and could certainly leave a bad taste in one's mouth. There are plenty of reasons for possibly knocking some if not all of the luster off of the SIG ownership experience when it comes to any given model. I'm curious as to what any of your nominees might be, and your reasons behind that choice. I'll gladly go first: Mine own is the Elite Dark P226 that I've owned since it was 'a thing'. This one peeves me like no other quite does, in the manner of its self-drifting wayward rear sight and its even more frustrating non SIG-standard dovetail cut into the slide, all of which gained 'Infamous' status from almost The Word Go. Sure fast-forwarding to today, I could pick up another P226 slide and put it on its frame and still have a very viable pistol, but why should I have to? Or I can take some sort of bonding agent to it and make it stay in place...except I can't because I don't have that wayward sight anymore because I made the mistake of sending MY P226 ED into SIG CS. They incoherently stuck a standard set of SIGLite (Meprolight) tritium sights on the gun, which are at the WRONG sight height for this particular gun and its unique dovetail cut. Talk about getting the POA/POI so very wrong. And questioning whether or not anyone at SIG Customer Service knows WTF they are doing. This was one of my earliest "foibles" (I'm trying to be nice) with SIG CS, and sadly it wasn't to be the last. -MG

I have certainly not owned all of SIG's offerings, but I shot a P320F in competition for several years. In the end, I returned to all steel products and now the P320 is probably my least favorite pistol, of the ones I have owned. When in doubt, mumble

I’ll be the controversial a-hole The P320 - Don’t get me wrong they shoot great but for me personally it comes down to two things. -I am really a DA/SA guy at heart. -there have been enough random issues and potential accidental discharges that I just do t think I could trust it. Again this is only for me personally. Not “you are stupid if you like..... or I know better....” thing. Just a for me personally they don’t do it for me. "Guns are tools. The 229 and I just didn't get along, I tried. I think I owned four at one time, all .40 and .357. Never tried a 9mm, might be the sweet spot

I have agree with all of this. I feel the same way about my P320.

The P365 SAS. Owned it. Sold it. Gimmick. The original P365, however, is the perfect little cc pistol. Q

Despite its great lines, the P232SL (any P230!) for its slide “bite” -unless wearing thicker Hogue grips. It has size going for it and I’ve owned two versions of this pistol trying to like it. I just could not warm up to it. Former US Army, Sgt., 82nd Abn. Div. Paratrooper, Infantryman, (81mm Mortars) Certified Armorer Love God, Country, & Family

P230/P232. I can't stand PPK-esque pistols... They're all uncomfortable to shoot, and chambered in anemic calibers.

Who Woulda Ever Thought? |
229. Just can't hit with it like I could with other Sigs. Oddly, it's the only one I still have.

A day late, and a dollar short |
P230/P232 While I find them to be the sexist of Sig pistols to behold, I found my example to be obnoxious to shoot. Sold mine. ____________________________ NRA Life Member, Annual Member GOA, MGO Annual Member

Mosquito? If it worked and didn't have an absolute shit trigger, it would have been phenomenal. Mine was more reliable than most with the right ammo, but the trigger was "meh" at best, and then one day it just stopped working. ---------------------------- Chuck Norris put the laughter in "manslaughter" Educating the youth of America, one declension at a time.

P938. 2 trips to the factory couldn’t fix FTE issues. Gave it away with full disclosure. 320 full size intrigues me because I really liked the 250 I shot. However the copious bad press and crazy reports of Slide burrs and self discharges while in the holster have soured me a little. (Disclaimers, YMMV, feel free to think me a fool, etc.) Plus I’m not sure what it does that my current fleet of pistols doesn’t do. I would like to try an X5 to see if it lives up to the hype. Didn’t like the P229 either. --------------------------- My hovercraft is full of eels.

If we're counting anything that had the SIG name attached, definitely the Mosquito. It's the only SIG-adjacent gun I've every sold. Mine was a better example than some and it was still a POS. If we're talking just about things made in-house that I have owned, it would be the P220 in .45 not because it is in any way bad, but only because among the ones I own, it's my least favorite to shoot... I still like it enough to keep it, and it's gotten some recent range time just because I have more spare .45 than I have 9mm for practice.

I couldn't agree more with warhorse. I tried real hard to like my 232 and hated it. Not only did I strongly dislike the recoil I also found I hated the European mag release. I sold it to my brother and he loves it.

It's true. It's a look a lot, shoot a little gun. They are not hard to shoot but not really all that fun for more than a couple of mags. That being said, I just bought another one. I'll probably look at it a lot and shoot it a little.

I'll have to go with my p290... chunky little bugger, especially with the factory laser.... But I do pocket carry it at times.... My Native American Name: "Runs with Scissors"

My least liked SIGS....any of them that are striker fired...I LOVE the DA/SA setup..it is reliable, safe, accurate and proven. That being said I just got a P365 as I dont like the 938 at all..... So my most unliked is the 938 and 2022.

I'll have to go with the Mosquito as well. It never shot accurately, though oddly enough quite reliable with the cheap Federal 40 grain bulk pack ammo. I didn't like the DA trigger, and SA trigger was only marginally acceptable. It's really too bad because the basic ergonomics were excellent for my smallish hand.
