Let me get this straight. You sold the gun due to a missing test target?
"You know, Scotland has its own martial arts. Yeah, it's called Fuck You. It's mostly just head butting and then kicking people when they're on the ground." - Charlie MacKenzie (Mike Myers in "So I Married an Axe Murderer")
This is by far the strangest reason I have ever heard for selling a gun.

I'm not quite hardcore, but I am a collector. I have a real fetish for test targets and more will follow. Kudos on trying to reconnect the paper and the gun.

I've sold guns for the same reason - and other reasons even less annoying. I once sold an otherwise pristine vintage COLT Combat Commander which showed up ay my FFL with a tiny ding on the edge of the slide. The seller vowed the mark was not present prior to shipment - the FFL denied damaging the pistol. I was so irritated by the incident I ultimately sold the pistol - which resulted in a couple hundred dollar loss due to disclosure of the mark. Thus is the cost of chasing perfection in the world of firearms collecting.

can somebody explain to me what a test target is?
I've bought two new sigs over the past year and they did not come with a test target...
Someone else will come in with more details, but the old Classic, German SIGs came with a target showing where the pistol was test fired at the factory.

I am so happy to see this thread! I was chastised by the SigForum SC (sophisticated cognoscenti) for trying to locate a spare barrel for my soon-to-pickup P6. In the case of the P6, owner said he has a half-box for it which apparently shows the SN. It has a 1982 date on it so I will be hitting up fleaBay soon for some kind of box. I'll be happy with a blue plastic box then I'll make up a faux label and glue it on. Target? I'm sure it won't have a numbered target but I fully understand and appreciate someone wanting to have all the correct items for a $600+ pistol! In fact, the P6 has an M-series serial number ... maybe someone has a test target and SIG booklet for such an animal ...

I took a class at the Sig Academy this past June with a guy who works at the Sig factory... his job is testing / shooting the sigs that comes off the line... now that's a job.
