Absolutely accurate. The P239 and early pre rail P 229's in .357sig were just perfect. Until you shoot and carry one, it's hard to understand it, much more so than any other pistols chambered in that caliber.

It's an absolutely wonderful cartridge. RMR 124gr Nukes works excellent on top of AA #7 powder as do 124gr Gold Dots.

Nice. For the win, for now, until you mag dump a box of 50 for effect.
During a class I once emptied a mag through the windshield at the target that was being moved by the robot. People watching behind said you can just see dirt and dust flying out of the side windows from the blasts. Even with plugs and muffs, it was a lot to take inside the car.
Also impressive if you know the holdover spot was consistently ringing steel at the rifle range with a pistol.

I picked up a "Red Box" 229 about 8-10 yrs. ago and it came with a spare new .357Sig barrel. I pick up spare 125 JHP wherever I can find it has been my "truck" gun for quite awhile!

Tried to like it. But pricey is just a reality check. I'll stick with my 9mms with Federal 9BP.

Have a no-rail 229 with both 40 and 357 barrels (love that gun) as well as two 239's (one 40 barrel, 2 357 barrels). I will have to check where now but got on the "notify" list of LE trade in 357Sig and picked up 1k rounds for very reasonable for that load. That's about the only way I can afford to feed those guns, but they don't get shot that often so am good for a while.

How recent was that find?

Searching email, the most recent purchase I found was late 2024 from GT dist where I bought Remington UMC for $17/box of 50 shipped. While I'm not normally a fan of UMC, it has shot just fine in my Sigs.

I finally watched the video last nightand learned a few things.
I did not get into the .357SIG world until I started with a police dept. not too long before we relocated. I got hired when they reformed the Dept. and when I got there they had Glock 21s, Prior to that they carried the SIG 2340.
I was cleaning out the arms room, and they had over 1000 rounds of hollow point and target ammo, along with 12, SIG 551 SWAT carbines.
The Chief sold me the rounds for $150. Even with a 1000 rounds, I haven't really shot it.
I converted to 40SW when I started with my second dept. That is also where i fell in love with the 229, and the 40SW round.
I also enjoy the 45 GAP, and watched that video right afterwards. This message has been edited. Last edited by: mrapteam666,

I just kept chuckling watching him talk. It doesn't look like he's reading. He's just talking measuredly and it's obvious he's got a lot of information. And not like a dam that's ready to burst but more like a deep well with plenty of water.
I wish I was an expert in something as deep as he is in his.
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." This is making me think I need a .357 SIG barrel for my P226. SIG still sells the OEM barrel online for $180…plus TargetSports has 125gr GD for $0.70/round. The available Federal FMJ isn’t much cheaper at $0.60/rd. That video and now as I keep looking into it makes it very intriguing though.
Also, just a minor correction to an earlier comment, it’s a necked down 10mm case not .40SW. Mentioned in the video and as I watch other videos, the .357 SIG case is slightly longer than same round in .40SW

I was a big proponent of the .357 Sig when I was with my old Department and it first came out. I was the first to qualify with the caliber and still have my piston. I carry it when I'm outside the DFW metroplex and help might be a ways away.

Classical Federal 9BP is perfect, I mean PERFECT for classical Hi Powers, my choice too.
But the 357 Sig in appropriate sidearms? A whole 'nuther Universe. Just sayin'.
