There's a few different options... you can search for P226 slides and find one with the optic cut out or send it to a company and have that done on your existing slide. From what I understand, not many P226 slides with optic cut are in stock

I tried to find the P226Rx bare slide on sigsauer.com and they don’t list it. Sig was selling these with the Romeo1 mounted, but it seems it’s no longer in their catalog. You may find a member who wants to sell one (list as WTB in Classifieds).
I bought one for my P226 but it’s staying.

Romeo1 is considered to be obsolete by many due to its poor track record.
It is no longer being offered by SIG.

Instead look to Romeo1 Pro or Trijicon RMR.

If you need slide milling...

2nd... GREAT choice in the 226

3rd... the Romeo 1 is a very good red dot site. I have one on my 226 Legion.

Now, you have some decisions to make. A slide must be milled for the site to be mounted so, you can have your slide milled for the Romeo or as previously mentioned, buy a separate slide already milled to mount the site. Pros and cons for either way... nice to have the option of iron sites or reflex as simple as changing slides (what I did) but then, you have 1/2 a gun gathering dust. Bothered me so much, I decided to buy a frame and build a home for my second slide.

Mill the slide

There are two ways to do this. Install a mount that uses the factory dovetail (many options and optic bases available). UPside easy and reversible, downside too high and no backup irons.
Mill the slide. Upside the best choice and can have backup irons. Downside you have to pick an optic base type. A minor issue on a 226 since you didn't say generation of your is that you need a milled slide to start. There are lots of people that can mill it. I personally recommend L&M Precision who has been at this for Sigs for a very long time. The sig optics would be the last choice I would pick in the optic choices. If your serious mill it for an RMR. If your not serious (range gun for example) then it doesn't matter too much except that its not something you get to change easily.

Hi, thanks for the info, the sig is new a 1 year old, the rear slide is a dove tail style you can tap it and slide it from the slide. I just thinking to put a red dot to help my aging eyes cause I don't see pretty good at short distance, so your suggestion would be highly appreciated. Thanks

mine is fine as well. They are made in China I assume and what that has always seemed to mean is that some 1/4 of the product output works as was supposed to. of course 3/4ths of them are pretty much bad. Making one wonder why sig would have done that to their loyal customers. There were take down levers for a while from India for P series. I think they might all have been junk what the hell sig?

i am a big fan of Vortex optics. Would the Vortex Venom hold up to the 226?

You don't hear much about the Vortex.
I would guess that it's medium quality.
It is a wild ride for a red dot sight mounted on a pistol slide and only a matter of time before they fail.

I have a Romeo1 Pro 3MOA on an X-Five and it's been very good.
I don't have enough round count to make a durability judgement, but its function is excellent.

From field reports, the Durability Award goes to Trijicon RMR Type 2
