for SIG factory P229 .40 S&W mags.

sns3guppyYou could run P226 magazines with an Apex +4 extension (or just run the 226 magazine).
https://www.apextactical.com/s...4-magazine-base-padsThe Xgrip baseplate works on the P226 magazine, for use in the P229.
https://x-grips.com/sigsauer/p228229m11/Meg-gar makes a P229 .40 14-round magazine that comes with the extension.
https://mec-gar.com/shop/magaz...p229-40-sw-14-round/https://www.midwestgunworks.co...i/prod/MGP2294014AFCPearce made a P229 +2 base, but it's been discontinued.

George43Sig says the 226 mags will not function reliably
in a P229.
I am looking for a +2 for SIG Magazines, I have 5 of them.

sns3guppyP226 magazines shouldn't be an issue in a P229, unless it's a P229-1, in which case the magazines may seem loose. There should be no function issues.
Where does Sig say that the P226 magazines will not function in a P229?

George43I called SIG customer service. They said they were
not recommended for duty/service applications. My
pistol appears to be a P229-1.

sns3guppyThe 229-1 uses a different magazine than the P229, or the P226; different in shape and dimension. Older magazines can be used, but will rattle. or seem a little loose. That applies to 9mm, however.
The P229 in 9mm was a narrower mag well; the P229-1 moved to a universal frame based on the .40/.357 frame, which is why P229-1 mags in 9mm don't fit non E2/229-1 frames. The larger P229-1 frame allowed more rounds in the 9mm magazine.
The .40 magazines are unchanged; the .40 prior to the P229-1 and the .40 frame after are the same dimensions; early .40 magazines fit later models and visa versa. The magazine confusion only comes into play when dealing with P229E2, or P229-1 in 9mm...these do not fit the P229 9mm frames, because they've been built to go in the universal .40 size frame.
If you're dealing with a .40 P229, it shouldn't make any difference, and you shouldn't have any problem running a .40 P226 magazine in the P229.
The gap is filled using the x-grip adapters, which were specifically designed to allow use of the P226 magazine in the P229, without the gap at the base of the mag well.

George43Thanks for the clarification. Be that as it may,
I don't want to have to buy SIG226 magazines to get
a higher capacity IF I can obtain the higher
capacity with +2 extenders for my current SIG229
magazines. Is this possible? Does anyone make +2
extenders for SIG226 mags which might fit my 229
Mags?

sns3guppyGreg Cote offers the Meg-Gar +2 adapter, but is presently out of stock, and has the following note:
NOTE THESE WORK ON THE MEC-GAR STYLE P229 .40S&W/.357 Sig MAGAZINES WITH FLAT SIDED MAGAZINE TUBES. THEY WON'T WORK AS A +2 ADAPTER ON THE GERMAN STYLE P229 .40 S&W/.357 Sig MAGAZINES. THE INDENT ON THE BOTTOM OF THE GERMAN STYLE MAGAZINES PREVENT THE EXTRA ROUNDS FROM BEING LOADED. https://gregcotellc.com/cart/m...ftsdqj2lfdnn2kpb7b90Same for the P229 +4 adapter:
https://gregcotellc.com/cart/m...ftsdqj2lfdnn2kpb7b90In each case, you can leave a name and email where they can contact you when back in stock.
Meg-gar lists the P229-1 +2 adapter base, but specifies that for the .40 10 round and 14 round magazines, the kit does not increase capacity.
https://mec-gar.com/shop/upgra...p229-1-sig-pro-2022/Meg-gar makes a 14 round P229 magazine, and promag makes a 15 round P229 magazine...but again with those, it wouldn't be accomplishing what you're seeking, which is to increase the capacity of the mags you've got. It would, however, allow you to have increased capacity, but at the cost of buying new mags.

George43I do not have any MEC-Gar magazines.
I do not wish to buy any more magazines.
I have 5 SIG P229 Magazines.
I wish to increase their capacity.

sns3guppyYes, you keep saying that, George. That's why I provided you with links that address what you want to do. You're welcome.

So far you have not posted enough information to determine who made your magazines
There have been three manufacturers of SIG branded P229 magazines
If you magazines say made in Germany, then SIG manufactured them
If your mags say Made in Italy, then Mec-Gar manufactured them
If your mags say Made in USA, then Chekmate manufactured them
These do not all take the same +2 bases.
Truthfully your will be best off with the Made in Italy magazines as there are several extended bases for those
Mec-Gar's plastic +2 base is what was shipped on the SCT magazines
This picture shows my P226 SCT, but it is the same base as on the P229 SCT magazines. I just could not find a picture of my P229 SCT
Then you have the metal Mex-Car +2 bases that were used on the magazines that shipped with the X-family of firearm
These aluminum base pads are available in matt silver(as shown), black, blue and polished silver. Unfortunately, these get harder to find each year. I wish more dealers would keep them in stock
Fellow Forum member Greg Cote has a wide selection on his website:
https://gregcotellc.com/cart/m...mdilohcn82utndidui83Unfortunately in this post China Virus Crisis, most of these products have been sold out for months.
After determining what magazines you actually have for your P229, place your E-mail on the waiting list for the base pads that you like the most at any vendor you can find. Top Gun Supply is another Great on-line source

mercedes560What do your mags look like? Just saying they are sig mags over and over doesn’t help.
If they are German mags with the dimples you can’t add mag extensions anyway to increase capacity, the dimples block extra rounds.
If they are mecgar or checkmate you can add the appropriate extension, but it’s still more economic sense to buy some 14rd mecgar mags now while you can.

stoic-oneDepends on how old your gun is as to what would have come with originally, regardless, you must have bought extras if you have 5. You also didn't mention if it was a P229, or P229R.
If they are the dimpled style magazines, they are probably also dovetailed as well, which makes them German manufactured original OEM version. No way to add +2 to those because of the dimple, as earlier noted.
Your best chance is that they are labelled Mec-Gar, or made in Italy, in which case you can add their +2's if you can find them.

George43Thank you all for your inputs. I spoke with Mr. Cote
and got all of my questions answered. It appears
That my SIG magazines were made by MEC-GAR. Which
makes everything much more doable. Now if the maker
of the +2 bases would just ship some I would be happy.
