I was surfing the net looking for parts for converting my P229 SAS, .40 cal to 9mm and I found this limited edition P229c 9mm, on Gun Broker. It was a little pricey but after talking to the seller I decided to buy it.
It was made in 2016 and according to the seller was only made for two years primarily for the Sky Marshal program
This reminds me of my 1989 P228 I bought when I retired from the Michigan State Police. Looking forward to some range time as soon as I get it. I am getting 4 original 9mm mags for it along with some upgrades.
(Grayguns P-Sait trigger and SRT kit, Trijicon HD night sights and a solid steel guide rod.)

Nice! I have a P229C SAS in 40. Found a 357 SIG barrel to drop in as that's my preferred carry round. Those are fairly difficult to come by as is the platform.

just passed on one of these NIB at my local dealer. He also had one of these and and Elite Stainless all steel 229 also NIB.Someone got the ELITE right before I came in. The 229C was there but I didn't think SIG supported it in terms of parts, Mags etc.. so I didn't buy it. It lasted another hour and was gone. That pic has me regretting it

That’s a negative about the frame. Except for using the same magazine, the P229C and P229 frames are different. The P229C frame’s forward rails are short and are integral with the locking insert, not with the frame itself. Think of the P229C frame as that of the P224 but with a longer grip. They should have named it the P224 Tall, instead, because it has much more commonality with the P224.

Great looking pistola and nice pix as always, sir. I found one a few years ago and it’s still unfired by me. Moot point to me given my age (won’t be fired) but the steel locking-insert doohickey for the front frame rails seems to be pretty sturdy.

No. Assuming that the “Sky Marshals” reference is the United States Federal Air Marshals (FAMS) never issued, used or tested a P229c in 9mm.
Never.
FAMS carried and issued only 229 and a few 239 guns in .357 SIG until the adoption of the Glock 19. “Sky Marshals” existed pre-9/11 and haven’t existed since.

Around that time we had a informal league here at Sig with many of the Boston FAM's and it was run by the Boston FAM FI. they never carried the 9mm. Only the 357 Sig.
I seem to remember this being authorized as a off duty weapon but not in 9mm.
