I have been thinking about this gun for years but never bought one. My wife gave it to me for Xmas. I took it to the range today. I have Sig, S&W, HK and Stoeger in .9mm and now this. Only the S&W is hammer fired. This Beretta is by far my favorite .9mm to shoot at the range. What a pleasure to shoot right out of the box. It made me rethink hammer fired pistols. My last 5 purchases were all striker fired. I thought I had no preference until today. This one is so pure. I’ve fallen back in love with the hammer fired guns.Up next will be the HK USP 9mm, I think.

Great gift! No matter which other platform or brand you use, there's always a place in the home for a classic Beretta. I've had a few over the years and they moved along at some point. Recently scratched the itch with the .380 84BB, a mini 92fs in a way.

I'll likely get another 92 one day anyway.

It's a great gun.

Now, I know people like to leave things stock, but get a D spring in it and LTT's Optimized Trigger Bar.

That's the bare minimum I do with all my 92s.

I have an Italian made 92FS full size, as well as the US compactFS (both 9mm). Seldom used now, but had the Compact out today to test 147gr HUSH ammo. The Compact took the round without any hitch; next will be the full size. A total pleasure to shoot, even though my go to these days is a G19 Gen 4. Enjoy that FS, Sir.

BTW, I second Chowser’s change to a D-Spring. Makes a good addition noticeable quickly.

And I second the LTT trigger bar. The one bad thing about a stock 92 is the insanely long trigger pull and reset. The LTT trigger bar improves the reset significantly.

And convert it to decocker only. And ultra thin grips.

I bought a Langdon 92 a few years back. Amazing gun and trigger. I've owned a Sig 226 and a couple of Sig Legion 229's and nothing compares to the Langdon trigger on that 92. Definitely consider the Langon Trigger In A Bag and the thinner grips.

I’m surprised at the number of posts opting for thinner grips. I love the feel right out of the box. I will think about the trigger after shooting it a few more time. It is unlikely I do anything with it though. I have never altered a pistol to date. I also never sell them. These things are like crack. I just keep accumulating them. I plan on 2 more in 2026. HK USP .9mm and a Mark IV. If I have a great sales year, I may get another Colt .45 1911.

Make sure to grab a USP sooner rather than later. They're being discontinued I heard.

This and the decocker kit, that safety is stupid.

The large size of the 92 grip is actually one of the things about it that appeals to me the most. It fits my hands perfectly as it comes from the factory. We're not all little people or women, despite the fact that that seems to be where the industry has put most of its focus in recent years.

Isn't the USP still a strong seller for HK? Are they replacing it w/ a USP Gen 2?

Yep. The Langdon trigger bar and a 12# or 13# hammer spring combined with some shooting will turn that 92 into a buttery smooth shooter. My old 92FS with those parts is probably my favorite "I just want to shoot a handgun" handgun and would be one of the last I'd part with. The Hogue checkered G10 grips have less of the classic vibe, but are a worthwhile investment. A threaded barrel and a good can take it to another level. Big Grin

I need to do something similar with my West German P226, I want to like that trigger pull just as much, but it's no comparison currently.

Smudge nailed it! All my 92's have the LTT TJIAB & the trigger bar. You'll be pleased. If you like it now, wait until those parts are in.
