Fastest is probably practice. But all things being equal, would a spare single stack magazine (someone here mentioned that before) or speed strips be faster?

Belt loops look cool but I can’t imagine them being the most practical. Then again a single action isn’t the most practical for speed reloads either lol.

The 2x belt slides look better than regular belt loops as you could easily grab two at a time but that means I gotta carry is on my right side as well as the pistol. I’d rather just carry something in my pocket.

What do yall use?

I am trying to imagine how a speed strip would work. It seems to me that after the first cartridge or possibly two that the strip itself would interfere with getting the round into the right place to insert into the cylinder. But if I’m wrong, that seems like the best option if you don’t want traditional belt loops or just loose in a pocket.

If your revolver is a .45acp, a glock mag works pretty well. the big bullets just plunk right in after you push them out with your thumb

I’m thinking the magazine, and again, I think Cee_Kamp recommended this, would be best.

Like Sigfreund said, I think the speed strip would be cumbersome. I’ve read that practice with a magazine lets you load without looking at the cylinder even.

I know the smart move is to do the same thing across all of your single action revolvers.
But I don't.

.22 rimfire, I use a drop pouch with loose cartridges.
9mm and 10mm, I use a semi-auto pistol magazine. (pretty quick and works great)
.38 / .357, I almost never use those two cartridges. (I haven't had the 38/357 cylinder in the revolver in years since adding the 9mm cylinder)
.44 Special and .44 Magnum, I carry a double action revolver speed loader.
Usually this is during deer hunting and carried in the speed loader, so they don't rattle around as much compared to carrying loose cartridges in a pocket.
I guess I should get a Desert Eagle .44 magazine.

Do whatever works best for you!

I stocked up 6 44 mag and 6 10mm to see how long it would be. No way one could carry that normally.

The fastest way to reload a single action revolver is to carry a second single action revolver.

But seriously, speed reloads aren't really going to happen since you are still having to unload each chamber separately (unless you are using something like an old Smith and Wesson break action).

There is no real option to “ speed loading” a traditional colt style single action. I at one time did have one in 45 acp and using a 1911 mag did work pretty well, but most SAA’s are designed for revolver cartridges. When a lot of practice is involved, old school loops work actually pretty well, as do the 2x2x2 pouches.

Many moons ago, I was acquainted with a police PPC shooter who had done a career and retired back when a revolver and loops were his standard issue. He had practiced with pulling 2 rounds at a time out of his loops and loading them ( S&W DA. Revolver) he could do it about as fast as the average shooter using speedloaders. Never saw him fumble or drop a round. He probably had reloaded this way tens of thousands of times.

Back when a free Englishman might own a revolver, there was a British version of the PPC. One difference I recall was that you only got one speedloader, the rest of your ammo had to be in loops or pouches.

I actually ordered a 1911 10mm mag and 44 mag from Greg Cote.

10mm seem to work fairly well the little bit I played with it the other night.

44 leverevolution is the only factory ammo I have. I have lots of components but haven’t set the machine up for 44 yet. The little polymer tip actually binds up the mag. Once I reload some flat point I’ll see how well it works in the desert eagle mag.

The easiest way will be the one you practice with, whether speed strips or magazine fed... however the fastest way to load a single action is when you eject a spent casing, put in a live round as in the chamber & repeat.

This way you don't spend extra time unloading a single action and then going back and reloading it.

Of course this is dependent on what you're doing i.e. in a match, plinking, hunting, (self defense?) etc.
