Try a Bul Armory SAS TAC PRO 4.25. You will be pleasantly surprised.

He's not going to like the grip size on those either. If he's going to try anything, the Staccato C/CS/HD, the P211, the Fusion XD Pro, or the OA Defense 2311 will have smaller grips.

I don’t know that I’d be interested in a compensated gun, and I wouldn’t want to just use their plug to block the comp either - seems silly to me. What I’m interested in knowing is if Bruce Gray has any plans to work over these guns with new components? One of my biggest complaints with modern SIG is their extensive use of MIM. I don’t like MIM, and would want tool steel components. If SIG was to make a non compensated version AND Bruce Gray or another talented gunsmith were to offer tool steel components to replace the MIM parts, then this might be worth taking a closer look at, otherwise it’s just meh to me.

A non compensated version will be out at some point and a replacement for the current compensation will be available to allow CO and LO entry.

Series 80 trigger is a negative. If tuned right they can be fine, if not they suck. Either you make all the FPS stuff happen during takeup and leave a crisp break, or have a crisp break and all the FPS stuff happens in the overtravel. Anything else is a crunchy creepy mess.
If the similarly priced P226 X5 is any indication, the guns will be assembled from parts without any special fitting and you will get what you get.

What base plate do they use on those 23 round magazines? I'm assuming they are 21 round magazines with a different base plate but I don't know.

Thread resurrection, but in typical Sig fashion, their promised sight block that was supposed to be available after release is now available for $130.
A SIG 2011 is very interesting to me. The next gun I planned on getting and have been saving up for was the Bul Armory TAC Pro. But this looks like a pretty interesting alternative.
Don't really have any idea how the two would compare, but I own a SIG 320, so the magazine interchangeability is a plus. And I suppose the SIG will have a slightly better warranty.
But the Bul Armory also looks really nice and it sounds like it has a slightly better trigger. Would be interested to hear from someone who has a little trigger time behind each.

Here's an update after 3,000 rounds.
It also depends what Tac Pro you're looking at. The 5" Tac Pro will be softer shooting but the 4.25" will cycle faster.
As for me, I'm not liking how finicky the comp/sight block attaches on the Sig. The Sig will also be about 10oz heavier than the Buls.

Thanks for the reply Dan. I think I'd probably go for the 5" TAC Pro if I went in that direction. For some reason I seem to gravitate to longer guns. Not sure if it's the perception that they will have less recoil, the longer sight radius (although this one will probably get a red dot) or some other reason.
I share your concerns about the comp/sight block attachment, particularly since I don't think I'll be removing the comp. Seems like it just adds a point of failure. I think the trigger in the TAC Pro will also be a little better.
On the other hand I've always liked and had pretty good luck with my Sig pistols. A Sig P226 was the first gun I ever bought 20+ years ago and easily has 10-15,000 rounds through it. Can't recall ever having a FTF/FTE. Also own an Sig P210, which is one of my favorite pistols, and a 320 which I honestly haven't shot all that much, but it's nice to already have some mags.
I guess it's great to have several "affordable" choices - if you can ever call a $2400 pistol affordable.

I was able to snag one before they went Out of Stock. They only had 8 left when I opened my email from Sig. Will post an update when I get it.

It’s a specialized base plate made for the P211 using the existing P320 21 round magazine body. So it holds 23 but the round count peepholes on the back spine of the mag only go to 21. Works in any P320 as well and is an extremely durable design.
There's a 4" and a 5" (in black or brown) and a GTO equinox.
IMO the new 4 and 5 cosmetically look better than the GTOs.

I have seen a couple owners complaining about the plastic recoil spring block. If it fails (and apparently does) the gun will not fire. Also, sig doesnt sell them, it requires the gun to be returned to sig. However apparently someone on ebay makes a steel replacement

I am very interested in what price point the GT4 and GT5 come in at. Hopefully it is around $1,500 but I have the feeling that Sig is going to price this at $2K.
