This gun is very light. I've never been a big 1911 guy, but the price was hard to pass up. The mags are hard to insert though, it feels like they are getting hung up on something, I have to really push it in hard. But interested to get this to the range. Don't weep for the stupid, or you will be crying all day

I bought one of the first sr1911. It is an amazing gun. As a friend told me..boy that gun just shoots where you point it.. _______________________________ 'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but > because he loves what is behind him.' Check your grip screws. It is possible they are tightened down to the point where they protrude into the mag well and are contacting the mag as it goes in. Or the grip screws are out of spec. Otherwise, the mag release may be out of spec. My SR1911 has been great shooter. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

I have 4 of the Ruger SR1911's. Two GVT that I placed on order when they first came out intending to cancel the order for whichever came second. They both showed up on the same day and were just so sweet to shoot I bought both of them. Also have the Stainless CMD and it's proven to be a no excuses gun. Doesn't matter what the distance is, if I missed it's because I didn't have the pistol pointed correctly. Of a sandbag rest I've hit 2 inch bullseyes at 50 yards with it. The final one is the Lightweight CMD in 9mm and it's a pure joy to shoot at any time. Recoil is light, it's easy to rack the slide with and when my arthritis flares up it's about the only handgun I can shoot. I've stopped counting.

I’ve been EDC one of Ruger’s commander sized 1911 for over a year. The only problem I’ve encountered was the white dot on the front sight came off/disappeared …I emailed them about what kind of enamel they used, and Ruger responded that any model paint would serve. Several weeks later the dots on the rear sight came off…so I did them too. Seems like a bottle of Testor’s model paint from 1984 has still got it-cause I haven’t had an issue since then. I agree with the above sentiment that the LW CDR is the sweet-spot of the Ruger SR1911 lineup. I drifted away from Commander-sized 1911s in favor of five-inchers, but I sometimes wish I’d held onto the first LW CDR that I’d bought some years back. I really like the two-tone and wood grips combo, to boot. This message has been edited. I had one for several years and it never failed to perform well. My son-in-law picked was dreaming of a 1911 - so it became his. A very good pistol - especially for the price. Jerry

The SR1911 is definitely a great gun. As said before it’s very accurate. I haven’t had experience with the LW but would love to compare to mine

Great pistols! And the white Testors trick works great on the dull yellow CZ glow sights
