Very nice. As you can see this is my factory (minus grips) nickel P229 that I bought around 2004. As you can see some pins and parts are black/blued so the gun didn't come fully nickeled. I had the barrel refinished in CCR's CPII but it came blued from the factory. Enjoy your new (to you) pistol!

In about 1991 my small (40 member) department purchased 3 P228's for evaluation. At that time we did not issue handguns. As the head firearms instructor for the department and our basic police academy I carried a P226. I had finish problems on my 226 was my only complaint. We ordered the 228s in nickel to look like stainless. We were told at that time the Sig was not making nickel guns. The 228s were sent "down the street" from the Exeter facility to be plated.

When they came in they were perfect and we loved them. Unfortunately I left the department in 1993 and they went Glock. So in about 1991 you couldn't get a nickel Sig 228. Not sure when after that Sig began producing them again.

^^^ SIG had Klein in Erie, PA do Nickel plating for their pistols, after the Germans stopped doing it in 1987. And, the factory Nickel P228s were available every year from 1990 to 1997. I have not seen a confirmed factory Nickel P228 in 1989 or after 1997.
