old rugged crossWould you buy a Stribog 9mm with folding SB brace
with non recip charging handle for under $700?
Seems like a really good set up, does it not?

cslingerNot unless I planned on SBRing it because let’s face facts the BATFEI has their marching orders and is hell bent on making pretty much any brace illegal by hook or by crook. So you may end up with just a pistol (for all intents and purposes).
That’s just my take on things.

old rugged crossI have not been following that. But how, with tens of millions of braces on pistols legally sold would that be possible? I could see them stop allowing them to be sold with this group. But outside of that, really?

Blume9mmIf you were going that route I'd look at a TNW ASR pistol in 9mm.... for a 'few dollars more' you can have the barrel and adjustable stock to make it a rifle if you end up having to 'tow the line'.

old rugged crossI do not know anything about the ASR. But the Stribog does seem to be a well respected firearm from what I can tell.

joatmonvIt got good reviews by some YouTube gun guys IIRC. I think one had a problem but that happens.
As for the ATF and braces, I see this like the bump fire stocks that were banned. I'm sure everyone turned theirs in.

I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I'm not.

Lefty SigOnly a new Stribog with the curved mags that actually work. Straight mags suck big time. The brace is up to you.
SB and others will come out with stuff that complies with whatever regs actually get enacted. But you may have to buy a retrofit kit - most likely something with a shorter LOP than what they current sell.
I've already figured out how to comply with the new 4999 form for any AR lower with a 11.5" or shorter barrel. It's not that hard. Pistol tube and Tailhook works fine.

Agree 100% but it does effectively stop the use of bump stocks on all but private land. My GUESS is braces will go the same way. Of course nobody is gonna kick a door in for your brace but using it in all but the most private circumstances would be difficult.
All that said let me add the following caveats.
-The BATFE hasn’t done anything yet.
-The whole SBR thing is dumb as shit as far as I am concerned.
-The ONLY reason I brought this up is because we have an anti gun cadre in charge who is unable to do anything above board and they are trying like hell to do things in end run fashions. I simply want members to be aware that money spent MIGHT be money lost.
-For all we know there might indeed be far to many braces out there to put the genie back in the bottle. I dunno. Not fear mongering just healthy awareness.
That Stribog package seems like a good deal. I thought there were some model changes for the stribog so you may want to research that but I haven’t read a ton of negative stuff.

cslingerAs an aside. Can you imagine how many unknowingly illegal SBR/SBS and AOWs are out there. For every gun owner who knows the various convoluted laws there must be 20 who just see a cool product, buy it and throw it on their gun non the wiser.
Which is why my personal take is the ONLY time stuff like this should be illegal is as an additional charge to a REAL CRIME.

joatmonvI would buy it if I didn't already own a CZ Bren. I'd do the same thing to the Stribog I did to my CZ also.

patwThat's a decent price for a Stribog. I would get it for that price.

BadhammerOnly if it were the latest A3 version. They re-designed the A3 to operate as a delayed blowback rather than the original straight blowback like the A1 and A2 versions. Better mags for the A3 as well.

This and the new curved mags that actually work. And I would prefer the new shorter barrel version.

I choose the Glock lower with 33 round straight magazines. I’ve been lead to believe the Glock mags work very well. Came with a collapsible blade and a Tailhook. But well north of $700.

Ah yes, they did just release a Glock mag version so that should be viable. I prefer double feed mags vs. single feed and don't own any Glocks, so I would prefer the curved mags. Buy you can't argue with Glock 33 round mag reliability. The original straight Stribog mags do suck as shown multiple times on the Military Arms Channel, Garand Thumb, and various other reviews.

What they will do is use a banned gun configuration INSTEAD of prosecuting a "real crime." Maybe they don't have a reliable witness or good physical evidence for a holdup or gang shootout, but possession of a Bad Gun is obvious, and prima facie evidence of a crime. And a federal crime at that, which is the goal of many officials.
I think the Stribog A3 16" carbine is an interesting and less controversial piece. But I don't see where they catalog anything but "pistols."

UdoLefty,
I do agree on the early Stribog proprietary straights are best replaced with the curved.

I was kind of surprised that TNW shipped me a 10" 357sig barrel no questions asked.... if they had looked at their records they had already sold me both a 357 rifle as well as a 357 pistol (their pistol has 10" barrel but same receiver and bolt but with a brace) and so what 'legal' use could I have for a second short barrel? The ultimate concern I have is even if the pistol is currently legal there is no way to determine this 'pistol' from the rifle other than an LEO going to my FFL and tracking down the paperwork for the transfer that shows it was a pistol...
And of course both take Glock mags...
Currently the pistol along with a Glock 31 goes in my "Highway Emergency Kit" when I'm on a road trip:

I am really liking that emergency kit.
Right now, I normally have a pistol in a holster on my waist and the Bren pistol in my Oakley backpack. It fits in the backpack nicely but has a tendency to shift around a little bit.

c_zielsdorfLove my Stribog. I read a bunch of people griping about them, but mine is 100% with (gasp!) the original stick mags. Best value out there for a 9mm subgun.
