Interesting shot show development... PSA is building a 5.7 pistol called the Rock 57. It will have 23 round magazines, be sold for $499 without optics cut, and $549 with an optics cut.

AND... the kicker.... the owner of PSA said that PSA is getting in the ammo business and will be providing ammo for the new pistol.

I had hoped for more ammo when ruger made theirs, but it’s still expensive and scarce.
If palmetto makes some that should help, and hopefully it’s good stuff.
I bought my FN knowing it would be this way, so really I’m not complaining.

I've never had a need to call on PSA's CS. I have ordered a number of things from them over the years. Bits for my AR build and ammo, mostly. They've always shipped promptly, I got what I ordered, and their prices are usually good. They're one of my main go-to on-line vendors.

I've been looking with interest at the 5.7 for years because the 5.7 has a lot of pluses but the big minus has been ammo. It's good to see PSA may solve one of the problems ammo but I don't know if the price will be acceptable to make the gun viable. We all know what's happened to the price of ammo and some say decent priced ammo is gone forever. My limit per round for anything is about .40 unless it's a hunting round.

That's what I need to know, thanks.

As imperfect as it is, I wish they'd simply gone with the same trigger they used for the Dagger.

They can be a little hard to reach.

Sometimes they take awhile to ship as well but I've always gotten what I ordered.

I'm still waiting for their MP5 clone/vaporware. But their new Micro Dagger might be worth $3bills. I'm glad they're going to start making more ammo. I have been wanting to get into 5.7 for awhile.

Unfortunately I think this is going to happen about the same time as MPX caliber exchange kits.

I hope they do well with the ammo venture for sure.

Me too. Seems like a lot of the stuff I get excited about fails to materialize lately. I've never been much for the five-seven...expensive round that can't be reloaded. My brother wants one, though, so he will be excited. I'll pass this on to him.

While new 5.7 ammo is expensive, it is about the cheapest cartridge to reload.

I think in the case of the mp5 clone they shot themselves in the foot by offering way too much for too little.
They never should have announced the price point before they were sure they could do it that low. The delay proves there is not a chance in the world they could do it that cheap.
It is not like they were/are designing a new gun and they are some start up company. Their established and my all means have the ability to produce the gun. So this long of a wait and pretty much zero word about it since while they are still putting out new products tells a lot.
At this point I am pretty convinced we’ll never see it. Hard to bring a product to market for likely twice the price of what you said it was going to be even if they ended up making a damn fine clone.

That would be the only way I would get a 5.7 anything.

Reloading the 5.7 cartridge is not for the novice reloader. I reloaded for both the PS90 and the pistol. Due to the small size of this case, small changes in powder charge can create an overpressure situation. The case has a coating, which you need to be careful not to remove when cleaning and tumbling, which aids extraction in these guns, which are both blowback operated. In addition, the shoulder moves forward quite a bit with each firing. I think that reloading this round may not be worth the hassle. Of course, factory ammo is ridiculously expensive. I had hoped that this would improve, as some predicted, with the intro of the Ruger pistol, but obviously this didn't happen, and likely won't in the near future, I think.

I had a chance to hold and dryfire it. It was very well done and I think I'll be picking up the optics-ready version since I sold my FN 5.7 forever ago.

One of the guys in my weekly shooting group brought he Ruger version to the range a couple of weeks ago.

Said he paid $1.00/round for the ammo and if he decided to shoot it much, he'd start reloading it. He reloads everything else he shoots.

If I had a nickle for everyone who said that more 5.7 gun mfg. would be more ammo and lower prices...I could actually afford to buy more 5.7.
FWIW reloading 5.7 is not for the casual.
YMMV.

I am seeing $1.00 a round prices on a lot of 327 Federal Magnum ammo, self defense loadings.
