This would be specifically for use around my rural property. No concerns if it immediately screams gun holder. I have toddlers so I'd like something that is adaptable from being waist carry or chest/shoulder and adjustable enough waist for use in winter. I'm assuming something similar to a fanny pack with a holster sleeve is the best option. To avoid accidental trigger bumping when carrying/dealing with little kids. This would be mainly for animal control. We live on an wooded acerage and with a creek. So the typical central Midwest critters are everywhere. I'm not trying to fast draw out of this type of carrier. Guns to be used all 9mm Sigp290RS XDS shield P226 Thoughts?

I have an LApolicegear fanny pack. During summer I do some work sometimes in tie string shorts so I put my wallet in the front pocket, G26 holstered in kydex holster in the middle pocket, and some small tools in the innermost pocket. I wear it around my waist while working. While driving or if I stop at a store on the way home I sling it across my chest. Not a fast draw but I 'have gun'. While it will easily fit a 15rnd mag, I carry it w/ 12. ETA: I believe its' this one, very budget, but I use/keep the gun in a Kydex holster. I don't trust the velcro setup they show. https://lapolicegear.com/la-po...le-holster-closeout/ Just to give you an idea.

I have a Kadet, basically my man purse. The Mini Kadet might be enough depending on what you're carrying. https://chromeindustries.com/p...mini-kadet-sling-bag

I'm contemplating one of these for when we go to Glacier NP this fall. Bringing the XTen loaded with Underwood 220gr hardcast. https://hillpeoplegear.com/Pro...oryID/1/ProductID/71 ...that I will support and defend...

I just posted, asking about this one: 945 Q.A.P. fanny pack Currently, I use a Wilderness Safepacker I have three sizes of the Safepacker, to accommodate a G26, G19 and G17, the largest of which will fit a G17 with +2 magazine and Surefire X300, and a 24 round spare mag. I habitually carry a G19 in one of these holsters, which allows for a Streamlight TLR-7 WML and a spare magazine. In addition to hand carry or Sam Browne-style strap carry, Wilderness makes a fanny pack adapter for these holsters which incorporates two water bottle pouches. These holsters are made in the USA. ![]()

I'm a big fan of my Hill People Gear kit bags. I use them for running, backpacking, kayak fishing, and biking. It's a nice way to keep small essentials accessible and tote your gun at the same time. If you're wearing it by itself it definitely implies "gun" more than it does in conjunction with a backpack, which makes it look like just another piece of hiking gear. It's still more discreet than open carry, and protects your gun from the elements. https://sigforum.com/eve/forum...0601935/m/7390020484

I just got this one for mountain biking. I use it without the extra running harness. I paired it with a kydex holster that had the "hook" side of velcro attached to it (from Eclipse). Took it on a 10 mile ride last weekend and I'm happy with it. Now I just need to upgrade to something in 10mm...

Nice, what gun are you using it with? I use the smaller version of the one you got every morning to carry a 642 when I run. I have the "medium original" for hiking and fishing. It has more room and pockets for maps, snacks, and fishing gear. That one will just barely fit a 329PD with the right grips.

Is there an actual holster in there for the pistol, or is it just a pouch?

It's just a pouch, but it's a separate, reinforced pouch just for the gun. The pockets for other stuff are in front of the gun pocket and are accessed with a separate zipper. Nothing else goes in with the gun, and the gun pocket does not have to be opened to access the other pockets There's also a small loop in the bottom of the gun pocket. I'm comfortable just throwing a DA revolver in there unholstered, but if I was going to carry a striker-fired semi-auto, I'd probably get a kydex trigger guard cover for the gun and secure it to that loop with a bit of cord so it would pop off when the gun was drawn. Or one could do what shikemd did and Velcro a complete holster in there.

Big +1 for Hill People Gear. Perfect chest pack, imho. Carry my G20 in it with a kydex trigger guard out hiking the Alaska wilds with 2 reloads. Went to Germany last year and replaced the G20 with faik and my esse 4. _________________________ "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. +++ Hill People Gear. Top of the line quality and design. Multiple sizes accommodate most guns. Rides very comfortable, too. I use mine in the bushes but because I encounter snowflakey types that are triggered by MOLLE gear, I wanted something less tactical (you can get non MOLLE Hill Country rigs, too) I went with the Elite Survival Systems Trailguard chest rig. Nice rig, well designed and priced right. Looks pretty innocuous. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

Right now a P229 in .357 SIG. However that's just the best option I currently own as my primary purpose for carrying on the bike is large animals (moose, mountain lion, etc.). My plan is to upgrade to something in 10mm. I was considering a Glock 29 but I'm worried that'll be more than I can competently shoot, so now I'm thinking of a P320 X-TEN Comp.

I've done exactly that with a minimalist setup using an LCP in a Nathan waist pack (I use it while running). It was similar to this one but they don't make it anymore. I can't tell if Nathan's current offerings have a loop inside to attach anything so try to find one to examine if that setup interests you.
