The 40th Anniversary P226 is coming
Didn't expect this at all from Sig.

Back-to-basics P226, no rail, no optics cutout, short extractor, old school grips, etc.

Very nice Cool

It looks...well...impressively classic. It would be perfect in my eyes if it had the more refined anodizing of the German frames and dot-post Von Stavenhagens, but we should be happy that Newington is willing to go as far as they have in just doing this.

Frankly I'm surprised in a pleasant way that SIG NH didn't succumb to temptation and give it the milled-for-optic treatment, like just about every other pistol in the current SIG lineup has. But a part of me still can't help but think, "Just wait a bit. This IS SIG NH, the company of 10,000 flavors with a rep for twisting their own history for financial gain via contorted marketing efforts..."

Depending on price I'm definitely in for one of these, been looking to pick up a 226 for ages now. Had an awesome CPO years ago I foolishly sold to my brother, still regret that decision.

Man, I knew it must have been brain fart. I even owned it at one time. Lol. Thanks for the reminder.

I like it. Frankly I'm shocked that they went with a short extractor. Curious what the price point will be on these...are they marketing them to the consumer or the hard-core collector? Personally I don't care about the 40th anniversary, or the yellow box, but that's a very nice pistol on it's own merits.

The answer depends on whether they decide to continue making it beyond this year.

Well damn, if it comes to market as shown, I'm surprised, I'll likely get one and good on Sig! This is about the exact opposite of what I've come to expect...where are the rails, RDO cuts, fiber optics, rainbow colors and embossed logos?? I wonder if there's anyone still on the Sig design or manufacture teams who were actually around during the original 226 design output before all the "upgrades".

I'm impressed and am looking forward to this one.

Very nice tribute to the P226! Way to go Sig ! A 35th Anniversary Edition in 2027 for the P229 in .357 Sig would Wink be great!

I love the Von Stavenhagen sights on some of my older Sigs. I can pick them up quicker than the three dot versions.

Nice! Looks a lot like my late 90s P226 that I bought as a CPO about 15 years ago.

Awesome. The way it should be. Wishing they would do a P225 with the reverence toward simple and classic.

I’ll add to the chorus of surprised voices on this welcome development. Having just acquired a WG P226 (KE date code), this late-breaking 226 might make the perfect pairing.

That is the first SIG pistol that has caught my eye in the last 20 or so years. Reminds me of my ol duty gun. (Back in the 90s)

Not really interested in DA/SA pistols anymore, but that one has piqued my interest.

Want

It looks just like the early 2000's pre-rail stainless slide P226's.

I need to start putting some pennies in my piggy bank.

Ooh, that's nice. I think I may be in for one of those, and I haven't felt that way about much of SIG's lineup for a while now.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

Just contacted one of my local gun shops, who happen to be a SIG Master Dealer shop. Got my name down for one.

And even better, my wife said that she would get it for me as our 40th wedding anniversary is coming up next year (2025). So I might have to wait a bit to get it out to the range Wink (or maybe not...)
