If you were to buy which would you get a P365 or P365X and why? I carry IWB at 3:00. Is the P365X hard to conceal? The P365X would be my preference but worry about how it is to conceal. Thanks for the input.

I'd get the X, as the slide is cut for a red dot.
The extra grip length is nice and easy to conceal.

Later if you want the regular 365, you can buy just the grip and switch everything over to it.

If you get the regular 365, you can also buy the X grip, but the slide won't be cut for the red dot.

365X for anything other than pocket carry. No problem at all for IWB.

^^ Excam_Man and toivo both make good points. But for me, I will never put a RDS on any micro compact, and I pocket carry most of the time. So, the choice is easy, the original P365.

Welcome to SF.

If you never plan to pocket carry, then I'd go with the P365X. I conceal a P365XL all day with zero issues.

I just ordered another p365, standard one, external safety. It was $499 at Cabelas, ship to store, then 5% veterans discount.

I'm with Q on this; the added size from a RDS messes with the convenience of pocket carry, plus it's not really something I see as a necessary must-have because in all likelihood if the gun is God forbid ever called upon for its intended purpose drawn from out of a pocket, I sorely doubt that I will have the time to do anything other than instinctually sight and shoot. If I were to regularly carry my P365s on my waist I might choose to think differently, but I don't so I don't. And besides, even with my primary G23 carry I haven't felt any need or desire to add a RDS to the mix...and screw around with three decades plus of ingrained muscle memory with the G19/G23...like the damned adapter-plated MOS Glocks do.

Moreover the ergonomics of the original P365 have never been an issue for me; my small paws get a solid purchase on the 10rd module just fine, plus I don't wrap my strong hand pinkie on the pistol grip anyways, even with such smaller, snappier guns like the P365 and G43. So for me it's the original, with an extra 12rd or 15rd mag...just in case.

I like having the option for easier concealability/pocket carry. When I want a longer grip, I can pop in a 12rd mag. I prefer the curved trigger to straight. I have no interest in a RDS.

Easy decision for me - standard P365 all the way.

Standard 365, planning on procuring one for my wife as a higher capacity option over her LC9, without adding much (if any) bulk.

May end up with a 365XL also, for me.

I can't stand the X format, the worst of the bunch, got rid of mine for the small one, as it has none of the pocketable concealment of the small one, and none of the longer barrel benefits of the XL, it's a solution in search of a problem, really.

Want the bigger grip, just get the XL. The extra barrel length is no harder to conceal than the extra grip the X and XL have, it's just weird, really, like Commander length 1911s, odd sacrifices and weird gains. Poorly conceived, imo.

The only real downside to the XL is that it's not really pocketable, but it's otherwise easy to conceal when carried other ways. Even though I like and want to carry the XL RZ most often, the non RZ regular P365 is just so small and convenient.

I have zero issues concealing my 365 with an xl frame with an IWB holster. I shoot it more accurately and faster with the larger frame. I pinched my palm and bled all over myself on a reload with the regular frame while running drills on the range. I also have no desire to put an optic on so a 365x wouldn’t have won over the regular 365 with an additional xl frame. I’m not a fan of losing the rear sight with the plate on the 365x.

As far as statistics about average defensive shootings....

I seriously doubt its going to make a huge difference to have a RDO (other than perhaps snagging on something if it was in your pocket)

If you look at the FBI statistics for Law Enforcement Officers Killed between 2015-2019 88% of the kills were under 50 feet of distance (so basically only 12% were shot from a distance around over 15 yards)

almost 50% were from 0-5 feet, by ten feet you've gotten to 65% of the shootings that ended in police fatalities

If you need a red dot to hit something at 10 feet you've got problems

The reason Law Enforcement Stats are used is no one really tracks the stats for basic defensive shooting distances

I've seen research that show experts are only about 10% more accurate than novices between 3 and 15 feet as well, also the same research proves recreational shooters are about as good as Law Enforcement "Experts"

https://www.researchgate.net/p...of_the_naive_shooter

"
This study aimed to examine the level of shooting accuracy demonstrated by law enforcement recruits upon completion of their law enforcement firearms training in comparison with novice shooters. One hundred and ninety-five male and 52 female law enforcement recruits volunteered. Participants were separated by firearms experience into the following groups: expert (completed law enforcement firearms course, n = 83), intermediate (recreational experience, n = 71) and novice (minimal/no experience, n = 93). All subjects were tested for accuracy at target locations from 3 to 75 ft. For all locations, no difference was found in accuracy between expert and intermediate groups (p > 0.30). Experts and intermediates had better results than novices on all locations (p < 0.05) except from 3 to 15 ft. Alarmingly, experts were only 10% more accurate than novices between 3 and 15 ft. Finally, novices and intermediate shooters were more likely to hit head locations from 3 ft (57%), whereas experts mainly hit the body location (78%). The results of this study indicate that officers had no advantage over intermediate shooters and a small advantage over novices.

I have a 365 for pocket carry but its a little big.

I have a 365xl for iwb with a standars 365 grip module. Its my favorite carry peice. You can get an xl for 659 now and a standard grip module. For 50 bucks.

Then you can have the best of both worlds.

I pocket carry an SAS and have no use for a red dot. I was considering an X or XL for the bigger grip but I like have one holster to fit.

I bought the X because of the flush mag, flat trigger and short barrel, let alone the night sights and being optic ready! Add to that my LGS had a sale on the X!

With the right holster and a good belt you can conceal just about anything. I used to carry a HK USP45 compact which is compact in name only but with a Galco outside the waistband holster and a good gun belt no one ever knew I was carrying such a large gun. In the summer months I transitioned to carrying a Kahr P45 but again it was easy to conceal with the right holster. I would go with whatever gun best fits your hand and then buy a good holster for carry.

I have the P365 SAS. I had one of the first p365's issued, loved it but when Sig came out with the SAS I decided to go with it and never looked back. I determined since the 365 was going to be used for carry only (it's obviously not going to be a range gun)why not the SAS, no hangups was a no brainer for me. I did some practice with it at the range and was very accurate with it. I've heard a few say they didn't like the sites, I love them what not to like, it's a CC gun.

I have shooting partner that has a XL and it's a good gun but way to big for comfortable CC gun. MHO.

The X for me. I found that I was carrying my 365 with a 12 round mag most of the time and that I vastly preferred the XL grip. I made my own 365X before it was a catalog item.

I pocket carry both the 365 and 365XL (w/Romeozero). My CCW Breakaways trousers & shorts have deep holster pockets that will allow pocket carry of almost anything. The 365s reside in Sticky Holsters while in the pocket to cover the trigger.
