I snagged a 1993 P220 this past weekend. Everything but the frame looks to be nickel. Actually, the breach block is black. The gun looks new. I called SIG and they said they can't look anything up older than 2005, but the guy said they did have some factory stainless and nickel two tone guns around that time, sounded a little unsure. He also said people could mail their guns in for a refinish back then too. I have the same gun with NP3 on it too, but this most recent one is a lot brighter and shinier, so I'm pretty sure it's nickel. Anyone know for sure if you could buy a factory nickel two-tone P220 back then?

Yes, they did, as well as two tone P228s and P225s. P226s, I'm not sure about. I have an old price list from that year but it's at the bottom of a box stuff full of stuff like that. Nickel slides and controls, black anodized frames.

Stainless two tone? The only one I know of from that period would be the early P229. In 1993, the P229 and the P230 were the only pistols in the SIG-Sauer line up that had stainless slides (blued P230s had carbon steel slides).

I have a two tone P220 that is from 1993 (KD). I purchased it new and carried it as duty weapon until I retired in 2012. Original box is stamped "Nickel-T". sn is G2118XX. Only slide is nickel, trigger hammer and controls are black.

That is consistent with the P228 series. All black controls until 1994.

I have one of those too, but I'm positive the slide and all internals are redone in NP3.
