I picked up another gorgeous Smith yesterday...39 no dash circa 1968
It seems like the Smith blueing was much nicer the older the gun was manufactured

Very nice
The first American DA 9mm. I’ve had a few over the years. Very classic

Very nice guns guys. The bluing on older model guns are really a thing of beauty and being solid steel, they should last a good long time.

I also love blued steel- especially older guns, or at least older gun designs.
Here is one of mine, but the pic doesn't really catch the quality of the bluing.
Sigs and Non-Sigs: I enjoy having options!

USFA built some 1911’s about 20 years ago and sent them to Turnbull for bluing. It reminds me of the bluing from Colt and S&W from the 50’s and 60’s.
Too bad USFA only built a few (maybe a couple hundred tops), because they were extremely nicely done, much like their SAA revolvers.

Gearhounds' FN post inspired me to take a few pics of mine...1956 model 1922 and a 1971 T-Series; that era of FN's turned out some of the nicest bluing ever, along with that era of Colts & Smiths.
