mrprovyOMG..the Bluing...Amazing!
I couldn't resist this beauty when I saw it last week...my eyes were drawn to it like magnets. I'm a sucker for high polished bluing...& wood grips, & older guns, & unique guns, & unknown (to me) guns
.1978 Smith & Wesson model 52-2 in 98% condition with two magazines and the original box. This target pistol is designed to run 38 spl wadcutters only, and was pampered by the original owner.

bac1023Very nice. I love the 52. Congrats on a very fine pistol.
I’ve got this mint no-dash from the early 60’s with incredible old school S&W bluing.
Here it is with my 1980’s 52-2.

CPD SIGI sold mine years ago. 52-2. Really good shape, not quite like yours, but pretty darn close.
LASER ACCURATE!
I just didn't shoot it, so I had to let it go.

Thank you!
I wouldn't mine coming across another, no-dash, but they're up there in price! I REALLY want a no-dash 39 to compliment my collection.

Yeah the 52 no dash was only built from 1961-63. The -1 ran until 1970 and featured a new trigger. The -2 then ran 23 years until 1993. It had an upgraded extractor.
You can see the different trigger and extractor between the two of mine.

bac1023I’m also a huge fan of the Performance Center 952 spinoff. Some differences, but many similarities. The 52 was long discontinued by the time the Performance Center tooled up to build the 952. It debuted around 2000 and ran for 12 years.

92fstechVery nice, OP! The Model 52 is a work of art, and an absolute joy to shoot. There's just something about it being a semi-auto designed to feed .38 wadcutters that's pretty intriguing, too. I've had the opportunity to shoot a couple of them with some of the bullseye guys at our gun club, and they're just fantastic. I've seen a couple for sale locally and been tempted, but I'm not a bullseye shooter and keep telling myself I can't really justify wrapping up that kind of money into a single-purpose platform like that...but every time I see one in the case I still have a hard time suppressing the urge.

Ranger41Always a great conversation starter at the range. Most folks have never seen .38 Special fired cases ejected from an autoloader.
