Haven't had a chance to handle a PDP yet but they seem to be getting overwhelmingly positive reviews. The one complaint that I've heard on many occasions are the plastic sights, with some folks saying that they're fragile and need to be replaced. To anyone who owns/shoots a PDP, are the sights really that bad?
I have four PDPs. My match guns are PDP Match SFs and I've got a couple polymer guns to carry. My primary match blaster went about 11,000 rounds before the rear sight fell apart. The downfall is that it is adjustable and I think that ends up being a lot of little plastic pieces that just aren't going to stand up to prolonged abuse. The day that the rear sight broke, I noticed that the front sight was loose. I removed both and did not reinstall sights. My secondary match gun is about 2,500-3,000 rounds right now and I will remove the sights when they fail.
As SigLaw mentioned, the sights use the Glock pattern, which I think was a very shrewd move on Walther's part. However, if you look at the factory metal sights available on Walther's website, you will see that they have a milled recess to index a punch on each side of the rear sight. I think that's brilliant and I'm surprised nobody else does it (maybe somebody does but it's certainly not common).

I haven't had any problems. I imagine that they're as durable as Glock's stock sights, and I've never had a problem with those either. The good thing is that practically any Glock sight will fit, so there are about a bazillion choices out there.

I have had my PPQ for over 10 years and no problem with the plastic sights but I don't carry it. Most probably change them out though especially if they are going to carry.

I saw two young PA troopers at a gun shop the other day they were transfering there sig 227 45 `s into there name both bought there old duty gun , they had and like there old sig 227 but really like the new guns better .

Yes, the new ones are the Walther PDP Professional with the Aimpoint ACRO already installed.
