Dave BeanWhy did the 320 only last 3 years? The trend was longer and longer keepage rates during the semi-auto era
December 22, 2022, 07:40 AM
MC3072The 320s are still there, in a tac bag. Both a full size with a Wilson Combat module and an AXG Classic. They're probably the best of the bunch.

Nick BWhat holster were you using with that 6” 686 ?
December 22, 2022, 10:44 AM
Sgt 127Mine was pretty simple.
1984 series 70 Colt .45
1989 Wilson (Colt) .45
(A brief affair with a Sig P220 and and HK P7 M8)
Back to the Wilson.
2000 Issued Glock 35
2015 issued Glock 22
Retired. New agency.
2016 Wilson .45.
Back up was the same. A S&W 640. Until the 642 came out. That was the one constant.
Just a smattering of off duty guns from a Detonics to 3” model 65.

92fstech1983 to present...that's an impressive amount of time on the job. You've literally been doing it longer than I've been alive! A good buddy just retired after 34 years, and I always told him that you guys got to carry much cooler stuff back then (I also regularly gave him crap about being able to be my dad, so there's that too

)!
For me:
2010-2017 P229 DA/SA .40
2017-2018 P320 Carry 9mm (Pre-Upgrade)
2018-2022 P320 Carry 9mm (Replacement upgraded gun)
2022-? P320 Pro Full-Size RX w\ Romeo 1 Pro 9mm
Backup/Off-Duty
2010-2017 Glock 26
2017-2021 P320 Subcompact 9mm
2021-? S&W 640Pro
There have been a few others in there in the off-duty capacity as well (there was a P245 for a good while that still makes regular appearances, and a very short stint with a gen1 P365), but those are the main ones.

bcjwriterI think the off duty portion for me was very illuminating - if I had found the G26 earlier I would have forgone a lot of my off duty guns I tried…and saved a lot of money…
December 22, 2022, 03:13 PM
92fstechYep, hard not to appreciate the G26!
December 22, 2022, 07:41 PM
MC3072Nick B, the 686 was carried in a Safariland mid ride holster, back when Safariland still used leather.
December 22, 2022, 07:58 PM
RogueJSKFunnily enough, I never took a shine to the G26, try as I might. It seemed ideal in theory, and I owned one for almost a decade, but the extra tall hump at the bottom rear of the grip just doesn't work for me, and as a result I shot it noticeably poorer than the G19 or G17 with their much gentler slope at the rear of the grip. So I stuck with the marginally bigger G19 for off duty carry for a while, before I was swayed by the siren song of the P365 with XL grip.

jljonesI don’t remember the years but went something like
1996-2008 SIG Sauer 226 (during that time I carried each of the following for a little but S&W 1076, USP .45, Springfield MC Operator, Glock 17)
In 2008, I briefly carried a G3 Glock 22, and from there until 2017, I carried a G4 Glock 35.
We got the G5 17, and shortly there after started running RMRs.

CPD SIGThanks for posting Gearhounds & JLJones, for a minute, I was feeling like a kid.
Damn some of you guys are old!!!!
95- DA P-226 9mm
96- DA P-220 .45
Backup was a S&W 442.
Qualified with the department 870's
Around 2007 I sold the 442 and got the S&W 340PD.
Somewhere around 2010 our department put the Glocks on our weapons roster so I went to the G-21 as duty, the G-30 as an off duty/back up.
got a G-43X, G-19 and a G-17 that I'm qualified with too. Ruger LCP .380 as an off duty as well.
2010-ish our department started the AR / Patrol Carbine program, I was lucky to be in one of the first classes. Bushmaster AR, then got an LMT.
I just found out that since our dept is now only 9mm, and because im grandfathered in for .45cal, I'm kinda screwed- I have to stick with my current G-21 and cant change to the new Gen 5 G-21 MOS, and I'm not willing to have this slide milled for the MOS.
