I remember a similar situation when I used to do 35mm SLR camera work. Nikon came out with a great new camera and many improved autofocus features but almost immediately a rumor started that when you pointed at an object to autofocus in certain settings it was actually focusing on what was 4 to 6 inches behind the object. People who stated this information had a great deal of technical knowledge and were providing what sounded like reasonable technical support for their positions but when individuals started going out and taking pictures including myself, we found no problem whatsoever. Nikon repeatedly stated that there is not a problem with the autofocus but certain individuals believe they had defective cameras. The only way you know a pistol is to shoot it.
