I am an unabashed Beretta 92 fan. I’ve had one (92F) since the mid 80’s and have never looked back. I have strayed but I always come home eventually.
I bought 2 of the first Elite LTT’s on the market. Mid 2 digits, consecutive, box signed by Ernest, the whole deal. Love them. However. I think Beretta nailed the 92X’s, not the Performance stuff just the regular ones. They are fantastic. Add a Langdon TJIAB and my LTT’s aren’t seeing as much range time. So it was time to make some changes.
I’ve never been a fan of the silver and black look so I swapped in a flush cut crown to take away that stainless look. I also love the thin G10 grips that the LTT ships with but I must admit they aren’t as grippy as I prefer. I’m a LOK Grips fan and LTT is selling the Veloce LOK grip at a sales price so I bought an OD Green pair. If you are on the fence about the Veloce (I am a Bogies fan) don’t be. They are great. Look great and very grippy. Not as grippy, abrasive as the Bogies but very grippy and better looking. Huge improvement.
Last swap was the Volker Precision flat trigger. I love flat triggers that break at 90 degrees (in SA). I love it in SA. I think I like it fine in DA but I haven’t shot it yet. We shall see. It was kind of expensive so I hope I like it but I have boxes of things that didn’t work as well as I thought they would. I’m pretty sure I will like this though.

Very nice! Like you, I'm a ginormous 92 fan. Took me a few years to get there as 1911's were my obsession. I have LTT & a few worked over by WC. I've really wanted to try the straight trigger but wasn't sure if it was worth the price. (love the look though). Keep us posted on it. I'd really like to know.

I really like that target crown. The 90 degree cut on my 92X tends to collect lead spatter, and I'd much prefer something like what you have there. Did you have somebody cut that or did you just replace the whole barrel?

I love the 92 series and I have no business doing so. . I have fairly small hands but the Wilson Ultra thin grips are awesome(have them on a few guns) and truth be told even with normal “wide” grips I shoot 92s well. Beyond shooting them well I just like them. They are sexy as hell and I’ve never run one that wasn’t like it was on ball bearings. A simple D spring makes stock triggers super nice and very shootable. A tuned Wilson or LTT gun is just awesome.
I do agree that aesthetically I much prefer your blued barrel to the “stock” LTT stainless barrels.
92’s are just great guns all around unless you are running a 20 year old M9 with old springs, an aftermarket locking block and crappy mags. Makes me wonder how those M17/18’s will be running in a couple decades.

I think the 92x is their best version to date. I bought an m9a4 when they first came out, had I’d known the 92x was gonna be so good, I’d have waited and saved some money. I had an LTT Elite that wasn’t as good as the 92x I shot bare bones stock..
I don't disagree. I shoot my 92X Centurion and Compact more than my LTT at this point. I thought the triggers out of the box were easily the best 92 stock triggers I have ever shot. I still put the Langdon TJIAB in them though because while they were good they weren't as good as the LTT's.
Where I think the 92X shines is the Vertec frame. My medium sized hands are way more comfortable on that frame style than the original 92. That is why I swapped grips. The LTT grips are good but their biggest attribute is being thin, not grippy. I find my grip wandering as I get sweaty. I need grips that allow me to really lock into the frame. The cheapo OEM grips on the X are surprisingly good for plastic. These Veloces are a huge improvement.
If I had my druthers, LTT would make the LTT Elite off the 92X. I would buy a Centurion LTT Elite X tomorrow.
I always laugh when I hear guys badmouth the 92/M9. I mean, come on. By the time they shot theirs it had probably been rebuilt a dozen times and was plum wore out. The "horrible" Checkmate mags are another thing. I know they didn't work in the desert but over here on the East Coast of America they are fantastic. I used to use them in matches all the time. I bought nearly 2 dozen at like 6 bucks a mag. Never had one bobble. In fact, I kind of like how flush fit they are compared to the blockier plastic floor plates of some other Beretta mags.

I agree. In SA it is basically perfect, I love it. In DA I am getting used to it. I have been dry firing it constantly and it's starting to feel "normal". Honestly if it didn't have a great trigger to start with I would swap it back to the stock trigger. Because the Langdon trigger job is very good, smooth and pretty light it makes the flat one work in DA, if the pull was heavier I think I wouldn't use it. I hope that makes sense.

Any chance you could also pass along your source for the flush crown barrels to me as well. I have a couple Elites and, while I don't hate the silver barrel look, it's always nice to have options.
I have a special place in my heart for the 92. It was my first pistol I ever owned (and still have it) bought circa 1989/90. It is THE one I would pick up first in a battle for it's remarkable dependability, accuracy, reliability combo. Whenever I take it to the range, I always leave smiling.
92’s are the best. So easy to work on. Accurate and reliable. There are only two things I find difficult. The G conversion, but you only have to do that once and the sear spring. It would be easy if you had three tiny little hands. Every time I install one it feels more like luck than skill. Lol

Absolutely. Coincidentally I’ve had my Beretta’s out as of late and they do just always leave me with a smile. They are just fun guns both practically and aesthetically.

Your lips to Gods ears. You have no idea how many times I have been working on any number of things where I have mused that if I ever mutate for any reason I hope I get a third arm/hand or a prehensile tail.
