Hey hey hey, you're supposed to love your son no matter what. Slap him around and yell at him but do so in a loving manner.
If my wife takes my G26 I'll probably get a Gen4 G19 though.....

I don't and won't own one. Son bought one though, thinking about disowning him. Advice? Where did I go wrong? We raised him right I thought.

Quite spreading FUD so you can buy Glocks for cheap. OTOH....

I shoot a 22 4th Gen like that and it sucks. The new finish is worthless.
Wait, what? The new finish? Help me understand because I think the finish hasn't changed. Do you mean the RTF? If so, I understand, but the Gen 4's have RTF3 grip which is slightly different than RTF2. Not arguing, just curious what you meant.

The finish looks different on my 2010 G19 gen. 3's barrel and slide.
The barrel is a dark grey and is not a smooth glossy black finish like the slide.
The slide has a rougher finish than older G19's.
Also there is a dot in the middle of the pentagon on the right side of the barrel now. I have no idea what the dot signifies.

Interesting. Thank you for the input. I have fired about 900 rounds through mine and holstered it for about 4 months and the barrel doesn't even have a smiley on it.

Whatever they are using for the barrel finish seems durable as hell.
There is a rental Gen 4 G17 at the range with the same finish on it's barrel that already has over 10k rounds through it. The barrel still barely shows any wear on the outer surfaces.
Does any one know what it is ? I wonder if the barrel is still treated with tenifer and then finished or if this is something new they are doing.
From my understanding if glock is to fully manufacture firearms in the US the cannot use the traditional tenifer treatment they use on Austrian made slides and barrels.
IIRC glock uses sodium cyanide and some other non-epa components for the Tenifer process. I'm curious to know if they are starting to use new finishing processes for components which are EPA friendly so they can start building glocks here.
I'm also curious as to why they did not finish the slide the same though.

I will admit I once purchased a new Glock. I sold it so I could buy another Sig I just had to have.

I still love my 38. Sure it looks like a 19, but it's got a wicked big hole at the business end.
I must admit, I'm drawn to the Gen 4 17.

Well....still no Gluck. Did get one of these though: 1979 model but like new in most respects.

There's something about utter simplicity from the overall design, the trigger, to maintenance. You may not mind it doesn't come without all that other stuff.

Same here on a G19c I picked up last week. The slide finish is normal. The barrel is a matte finish, but shoots all the same.
I'd polish the barrel, but I haven't shot it yet to determine if it's a keeper.

I like the looks of the Glock. All black, all business, blocky, and ugly in a good way. Every time I think I want one, I wrap my mitts around it and just hate it. A full size is O.K. grip-wise but any others are too uncomfortable. Too bad because I see them for sale barely used all the time cheap, unlike Sigs.

I don't want an ugly gun. Even if it's ugly in a good way.
The Sig P220 is a very attractive gun, and it works as well as any Gluck IMHO. The Beretta PX-4 is a volumptous Italian type that's lovely with a firey disposition. The Sig P232 is a foxy little cheerleader type that's really something to fondle. Fondling a Glock is like fondling Rosie O'Donnell
If there were no other guns that worked well, then Glock would have an advantage that looks alone could not overcome. But there are SO MANY guns now that are reliable and attractive, why pick the ugly one? That's why they are cheap

Rosie o'donnell...HaHa.
I also like the all business look of the glock. I just can't get past how bad it felt for me ergonomically. It just didnt point naturally for me.
