You will buy a Glock

I’ve got a 19, 23 & a 26 that feel great I like them and I’m satisfied with how I shoot them but really prefer the 45acp & want another Glock in 45acp.

The 41 feels mostly like a 21 to me. More sight radius.

I know I’m going to be that asshole who suggests “SOMETHING ELSE” but I do have a reason due to your statement above.

You seem to like the compact/subcompact Glocks. Why not give a G30 a go? About the size of a G19/23, can run the 21 mags, very accurate in my experience and just a good “utility player” type gun. Just a thought.

Is the 30S the same frame as the 30 but the thinner slide of the 36? I was hoping for a gen5 release of that for years. I wanted something to compliment my aging gen4 21 to share mags with but wanted a thinner slide.

Not minority enough!

Same frame as the G30SF or the backstrapless Gen 4/5 G30, but a slightly thinner frame than the standard Gen 3 G30. (The standard Gen 3 G30 frame is the same as a Gen 4/5 G30 with the Medium backstrap.)

Honestly, the thinner G30S slide doesn't really gain you anything over the Gen 4/5 G30 or G30SF, other than the minor ~3 ounce weight difference. It is the same sized frame, which is the widest part. It is the same height and length. The very marginally thinner sides of the slide (0.12" thinner in width) doesn't affect carry in any meaningful way, since it's still paired with the chunky frame.

And the G30 as a whole doesn't really fit in anywhere for me. I have a G30 Gen 4, but it pretty much just sits in the safe. If I want a .45 Glock I reach for the G21, which I prefer and shoot better. If I want a more compact medium-sized carry Glock, I reach for the G19.

I guess it might make sense for someone limited to 10 round mags, perhaps? Or maybe someone old school who refuses to carry anything but a .45 but still wants a roughly G19-sized carry Glock?

I understand why Glock has discontinued it.

I believe the first G30 pistols had a wider frame.

The 30S has the G30SF (slim frame) with a 36-sized slide.
I even bought a G36 frame to run with that slide, but ended up selling them all.
I had the G30 with the SF before buying the G30S.

G30S vs G36 frame for comparison

I usually don't like using AI, but this explains it better than I can.

After dark, go down to MLK Boulevard in New Haven.

Ask for Teefus.

My experience pretty much mirrors the above. I have a 21SF and 30S in Gen 3 and a 21 and 30 in Gen 5. In either Gen, I prefer the 21 over the 30. I will also add, that I wound up buying a full size 30 upper and converting my 30S back to an SF. While the slim slide does carry better, the wide slide shoots much better and feels significantly milder to me.
