The Slimline Glocks haven’t received the Gen6 treatment yet, just the magazine update. Although strictly speaking, I don’t think the Slimline Glocks are Gen-anything.

2AdefenderI got to handle a Glock 19 Gen 6 yesterday. It felt very good in the hand and the trigger was pretty good. Very tempting.

Really? Glock doesn’t list Gen6 43x on their website.
I seem to remember one of the Glock guys in the media event when the Gen 6 debuted being asked directly if they were doing Gen 6 slimlines and he gave one of those “I can’t tell you, but yeah, those are coming” type answers.
My mistake, I had my Gen 6 G19 on the brain.
I meant the G43x with the COA came with 15 round Glock mags.
Didn't mean to get y'all all stirred up.

jljonesSo I’m teaching an inservice course where I teach the same course over and over (different groups) for 10 days. There’s a stage set up that the students shoot at the end of the course. To say I’ve shot the course of fire a bunch is an understatement.
Currently I have two guns, a Gen5 and Gen6 17. I can shoot both guns back to back and the hit factor is always higher with the 6.

MikeGLIJerry, what are you attributing that to, the grip?

1lowlifeI've only shot it once, but I will say the Gen 6 does have some nice changes.
The grip texture is an improvement, not too much and not too little and more coverage.
I also found the grip palmswell more comfortable.
The flat trigger is plus, so much I'll probably change some of my older Glocks to a flat faced trigger.
My only other experience with a flat faced trigger was the P365XL I owned for about 6 months.
I didn't think I would use the thumb pad/gas pedal but found myself resting my left thumb on it while shooting.
The beaver tail is a bit much, but not so much I'll do any modifications to it.
The slide serrations have more 'bite/grab' to them as well.
Good article on the Gen 6 with several comparison pictures.
Plus a video on the difference in the extractor assembly of the Gen 6 compared to a Gen 5.
A Deep Dive on the New Glock Gen 6 Models (G17, G19, and G45) Very happy with the COA optic although it's weird shooting with both eyes open.
Already considering a 43X with a COA for the wife to replace her G42.

I think it’s the combo between sits lower in the hand and the absence of a garage door spring for a recoil spring.

I hope you know how much Sprite through the nose stings. At least it didn't hit the computer.

jljonesNow you won’t be able to stop seeing that when a G4/5 gets taken apart.

CPD SIGJL, I know you shoot more than enough-
Are you switching spring weight and / or guide rods? Or are you keeping everything OEM?

pedropcolaThat Glock I gave to my son had a simple mod that I don’t think many people do. Don’t even remember where I got it. It had a simple drop in plug that allowed the use of a normal guide rod and flat spring. It just filled the dual rsa hole to single replacement old school flat spring. One of my favorite easy mods. No garage door spring.

drabfourDid I miss it or are the Gen 6s only available for optics ready slide or is there a non optic cut version to be released?
May 09, 2026, 03:04 PM
jljonesI have yet to see a G6 that isn’t cut for an optic.

Do both have the red dots or irons?

I'd have to question any of the big names releasing "new" models that are not optics ready.

lkdr1989Was at a LGS yesterday and asked about this and they told me that all Gen 6s are optics ready...not official but wouldn't be surprised that it's cheaper for Glock to cut all all their Gen6 slides for optics than deal with a different SKU. Kinda disappointed because I was looking to buy a Gen 6 G45 with a normal slide. It's the aesthetics; although I'm planning to get a Gen 6 G45 COA but also wanted a non-optics cut version.
