You will buy a Glock
Manufactured by whom?

Don't know. The post only said:

"BREAKING NEWS: Glock will begin shipping their slimline Glocks -43x and 48- with 15rd magazines starting around mid April! 15rd Glock 44 mags are also coming soon."

With new Gen 6 pistols maybe?

Several places have reported this but no one has said if it's Glock manufacturing them.

I'm going to guess that these magazines will be manufactured by Glock. Otherwise, I don't see the point, not to mention that selling aftermarket magazines with their pistols would be entirely out of character for Glock.

Well that would be awesome if it's true. I haven't invested in any aftermarket mags yet (although I did just buy a had full of a Glock 10 rounders), so I guess I'll just hold off a bit longer and see how these play out.

That information is accurate. Magazine bodies are being made with the assistance of Mec-Gar. Spring and follower are being made by Glock.

So, these will be, in essence, OEM magazines. Glock-marked metal magazines. I never thought I'd see the day.

It also explains why MecGar has not made slim line 15 rounders yet. Whenever they were queried they would say something like "oh we will get there someday". Well, it sounds like they were already there but had contracted with Glock. Which seems really smart. It gives them instant credibility. I have the MecGar big boy Glock mags and contrary to the internet they work 100% so I suspect Glock making them basically OEM will dry up the internet fairy tales.

I have been using the latest gen of Micro Dagger mags. In fact they are being used pretty much exclusively because I wanted to see how they worked before I carried them. I swapped out the plastic baseplates but that was more a personal "thing" than I thought the factory baseplates wouldn't work. A couple hundred rounds through each with a boringly repetitive non malfunction vibe. I use them now without concern. Case study of one.

I did find it odd Mecgar would release G19 and G17 magazines when 43x/48 magazines would be the real game changer when I posted this back on October 25, 2024.

Nice move Glock. I would prefer a factory mag over the aftermarkets I am using.
Real glad Glock has listened to its customers.

It makes good business sense. Shooters are buying these Shield magazines and Glock sees profit going out the door.

My son and I both have 43x pistols. Last week, he purchased another one in FDE because he liked the color. The first thing both of us noticed was the magazine release. The spring was stronger and empty magazines would really eject with authority. It was noticeably better than our other two pistols. Could be nothing but after the news of 15 rd. magazines, it makes me wonder if Glock made some type of change.

Was planning on getting a 43X next week but might have to put that off until next month.

5th and 6th of March, one of the guys on the team was asking me about getting a G-43x. I tossed him mine, told him about the Shield Mags. He’s in. Probably in the next few days… Then I opened this thread!

Next month, just like you.

So does this mean that they will come with metal magazine releases now or will they be like the larger Mec-Gar mags and have the indentation in the metal, so the plastic mag. release will not get damaged? I am very interested to see and hopefully they make a ton of them.

I would guess that Glock has been looking at the sales of guns like the 365XL/Macro, Springfield Hellcat Pro, FN Reflex XL and other 15 round slim frames and it was apparent that their 43X and 48 guns will sell even better with a dedicated 15 round mag. Just good business.

I doubt Glock will make it require a metal mag release like Shield. We're just going to have to wait a little and look. If they're using MecGar, MecGar will make it like their current Glock mags and just have the divot.

Lipsey’s is showing the MSRP to be $32.73 which is the same as the 10 round polymer mags.
The picture shows the 10 round mag so no insight to the mag release question.

Nice! I wonder if there’s any chance of some higher capacity G42 mags at some point.
