You will buy a Glock

agonyYou will buy a Glock
I'm slowly transitioning away from my Gen3's completely. Sold a couple gen3 19's, 34, and 17. Added this cute little Gen4 19 the other day. Cerakoted Magpul FDE frame and slide. Added nightsights I took off of one of the gen3 19's I sold. Otherwise everything else is stock. Because the whole thing is cerakoted over a stock black 19, it's gonna get super-ugly as I abuse the shit out of it.

IagbarrbI will never buy a Glock.
It is a popular pistol. But never as good as Sig Sauer or as a H&K.
Its a gun tjat is shooted by the snobs at my shooting association.
I do not like snob girls nor snob guns.
My list is H&K Sig Sauer Desert Eagle CZ Browning Colt. I could even buy a Beretta.
I shoot over 10 Years. Over 2000 rounds a year. Believe me when I tell you I will never buy a Glock.

But every time I pick one up it feels like I am holding a 2x4 in my hand (at least they don't have splinters), and because of the weird grip angle, they do not point naturally for me.
Now I will further admit that when I have actually shot Glocks, I shot them better than I would have expected, although not better than SFA guns made by other manufacturers.
Now I am shopping around for a mid-size 9mm carry pistol and I suppose I have to put the G19 on the list of candidates. But my question is how do I go about falling in love with a butt-ugly pistol with a spongy trigger and no soul that feels like crap in my hand?
As Prefontaine mentioned, try a Gen4. I never bought a Glock for the same reason...until I tried a Gen4. Currently have G19 and G34 Gen4's. I use the G19 without any back straps and the G34 has a GripForce Adapter. Generally, if you put a Glock Medium adapter on the Gen4 you have a grip size close to the Gen3. The G19 does not have the classic "high point", for my hand at least. The G34 does, hence the GFA. Grip shapes and finger grooves are slightly different between the two.
Unfortunately, a lot of discussions involving Glocks don't identify which Gen the poster is talking about. It makes a difference in the grip and the triggers. Both of my Gen4 triggers are bone stock and very good. NEITHER is spongy. Both have a crisp release (wall).
Besides Warren Tacticals, only mods on mine are Vickers mag release on both and Vickers slide lock lever on G19. Minor shaping to avoid Glock Knuckle. In terms of functionality, I consider them the equal of my Sig classic P-series, P320 and 1911's. Personality is a little different, but a great SD gun nevertheless.
I don't think you could go wrong with either a Gen4 G19 or P320C 9 mm. Only one way to find out.
Get a ten 4 g17. Cut the bottom half off the medium grip and install the top half. Improves the grip angle like a grip force adapter without the added bulk.

Of those you listed you see the Glock as a snob gun? Maybe the "snobs" that "shooted" the Glocks just know something you don't.

^ Fixed that for ya..
Sorry to be the one to tell you, but you are one of the gun snobs..
I shoot over 20 years, that make me smarter.
2000 rounds is only two range trips for most of us.
I've sold Sigs and an HK to buy more Glocks.
You will buy a Glock, it will only be a matter of time.

Sounds like you should start with a G19. Maybe a G34 after that.

So Glock shooters are snobs and Hk shooters are not?
You think 2000 rounds a year is a lot?
You are making friends here fast with stupidity I'll give you that allstar.

I seem to remember something about flypaper Para said with respect to this thread....

I agree. No Glock fit me until I tried Gen3, and, really, they only fit my left hand decently, while being merely somewhat OK for my right hand. Gen4 is much better, and has the backstrap extensions to fill a wider range of hands. Better to try before buying, of course, if you can. I bought, on faith, and was rewarded.
Regarding the trigger, I still dislike the Glock trigger for target accuracy, but it works well enough for practical accuracy at gunfighting distance. I will probably never shoot a Glock as well as a good 1911, or smooth medium or medium/large-fame revolver, but when shooting fast in "stress" training scenarios,I seem to shoot Glocks well enough, with some of my shots being placed well enough to amaze me. In "practical" conditions, I am shooting Glocks almost as well as a 1911 or revolver, while my Glocks offer me more shots before a reload, more shots in each reload, an accessory rail for a weapon-mounted light, and easier mounting of sight options.
I can have, for example, one Glock with tritium sights, and another with a wider-notch rear sight and high-visibility, but non-tritium front sight. Both of these Glocks, together, will cost less than half the price of a premium 1911.

birddog1Earlier this week I picked up a gen 4 Glock 23. I put some XS Big Dot sights on it last night. I'm going to the range to shoot it for the first time tomorrow.

StarchedCoverI thought the first G19 Gen. 3 might have been a fluke.
It hasn't been shot too much these past 6 years or so, as I tend to shot my SIG's, 1911's and older S&W revolvers.
Well this morning while looking for another P239 9mm I found a Lipsey's Vickers G19GF RTF2 in the case.
After handling it and giving it a good look over, the gray frame grew on me and I said "I'll take it".
Like the man said "You will buy a Glock".
Now to get it to the range tomorrow.

philomegaWent over to the dark side and picked up a gen4 G19 yesterday. Local pawnshop had it with box and 3 mags for $399 so I couldn't really say no.
My first pistol was a G17. I learned how to shoot a handgun with it and it fed every round I ever put through it. I can't believe it's taken me this long to get another

I'm not a fan of the Gen 4s, but I don't think even I could have passed that deal up..

For $400, I could have sanded that aggressive grip down a tad..
Congrats...

parabellumSounds like someone has been ripping you off, bendable. Glocks intended for the commercial market come with two magazines. Glocks intended for law enforcement (known as 'Blue Label Glocks'), come with three magazines.
