Thinking of going back to another Glock. I've had several 17's and a 36 but sold them off over the years.
I'd like to get another one for everyday carry. I'd like to keep the caliber 9mm and would also like some holster suggestions, something OWB with retention. I've never found IWB comfortable or very practical when drawing.
Suggestions?

I bought your 36 from you.

I just bought a gray framed glock 19 tonight. My first gun was a gen 2 glock 22 my dad bought me 20 years ago. I only kept it about a year and sold it. So far I like the way it feels.

Do you think you could justify/rationalize/live-with appendix carry? It has taken me some time to "be okay" with the method, but my times vs hip or 4:00 carry made the decision for me.

If so, give dosborn81 of OHC a holler on a carry rig and get yourself a G26 or a G43 and live happy.

He makes OWB rigs too, if you're set on that.

(I'm using a Shield 9, but the method is the same.)

I use the Safariland 6360 on duty. It has both the ALS and SLS retention; I am forgetting which of those is the rotating hood, but the one which is NOT the rotating hood seems to be quite well-suited to concealed carry applications, and Safariland sells such holsters. I am on my first-generation iPad at the moment, which does not handle most websites well, so cannot look up the model number right now.

I am thinking I may well continue to use my 6360 holster after retirement, as a field holster. The belt loop/shank unbolts from the holster body, and I can swap the duty-belt-sized loop/shank for one made for 1.5" or 1.75" pants belts.

At the moment, my favored holster for a G17 or G34, with or without Surefire X200/X300 mounted, is the DSG Arms Alpha. (Yes, I pack heavy when off the clock.) I have a Blade-tech belt holster, with Tech-lock, for the G19 with X200/X300, but the DSG Arms Alpha rides closer to the body. Neither of these, however, has an active retention device, depending upon the molding of the kydex to retain the weapon.

The Safariland SLS is the rotating hood. The ALS system is slightly lower profile, but neither the SLS nor ALS holsters are suitable for concealed carry. They are strictly duty/open carry holsters, unless you're wearing a heavy coat. They're far too wide and bulky to effectively conceal under normal clothing.

The 6377 is one of the ALS holsters that Safariland markets as a "concealment" holster, but it's far from it. Instead, it's better suited as a plainclothes holster for open carry. I use it on duty when wearing my soft uniform (with the addition of an ALS Guard for another level of security). Here's a shot I recently posted in another thread, which illustrates just how far even the most "concealable" ALS holster protrudes from the belt.


As you can see, it's not something you're going to be able to easily conceal under an untucked shirt. If you want retention on a concealment OWB holster, your best bet is either friction/tension retention, like a kydex holster with an adjustment screw, or a leather pancake holster with a thumb break. Either of those options will be thinner, ride closer to your body, and conceal more easily. The various plastic holsters with mechanical retention, like the Serpa/ALS/Thumbdrive/etc., will be too bulky to conceal, without resorting to something like a large jacket or coat.

Safariland's new 573 is a concealment design with their GLS retention. I don't own one, never seen one in person, but it might work for you.

Well, my "inevitable G26" came home with me today. I traded a Walther PPK/s-1, the extended tang of which ate holes in my hand. (I still have my West German PPK/s.) The store had both Gen3 and Gen4 available, new, and though I handled both, plus the G43, as a final confirmation, it was no contest; the Gen4 G26, like its bigger brothers, is a much better fit for my hands than Gen3, and the G43 does not have that comforting, hand-filling, assurance that I have a really firm grip on my weapon.

Plus, I already have a Raven Concealment ACR and Alessi Ankle Holster, sized for the G26.

I will admit I had a fling with the pistols from Austria. I now live in a 'Glock free zone'.

today I bought a Glock. Well, actually, I cashed in Cabela's points, so no $ out of pocket.

A Gen 4 G26 came home, to go with a Gen 2 G19 I've had since the early 90s.

Seems to be the best solution for EDC in a state that limits us to 10+1.

Dammit, resistance is futile!!!!!!I went to a training with Pat Mcnamara, and almost everyone was running Glocks, with the exeption of some police officers, that were required to use Sigs at work. I was using my Sigpro also. After trying a Glock and seen how well they performe for everyone using one, I got the itch. Then on Black Friday, I received an e-mail from a store selling police trade in, On Glocks 22s, gen 3, 3- 15 round mags and night sights for $317 shipped. I succumbed to the evil Glock Genie. Now, I'm Retlaw and the proud owner of a Glock.

You can use your 40cal mags.
You may never run 40 thru it again...



But be sure it is a Gen 3 and not a Gen 2.
Glock doesn't recommend running 357sig in a Gen 2.
I sold my Gen 2 G22 for that very reason..

Reading too much about the 10 millimeter auto got me into my first Glocks a 20 sf and 29 sf about a year ago. Prior to the Glock my previous Woods carry gun has been the Smith and Wesson mountain gun in 44 mag. My 200 grain load doing 1250fps makes this a keeper for sure.

If I had xtra money I would buy another G36 (I've owned 2 in the past)

Well I went to the gun store looking for a new single stack 9mm and I walked away with a G43. I was hoping to walk away with a XDS, LC9, or even a M&P shield. But the G43 just called my name and I did something that I said I would never do and I bought a Glock.. it feels good to finally give in and own a glock. I was so excited that I went straight to my gun club and put a few rounds down range. It shot great I had respectable groups at 12 meters. I just hope it plays well with my West German 225...

I've always liked the original RTF2 texture best, even if it's harsh on the clothing. The LAV version with its slightly lessened bite is a close second.
