It looks like a crack from up mid-point of the hammer spur curving downward toward the 4 o'clock direction just cutting through the top edge of the flower and ending just before the cylinder shield. What is that?
I believe that’s the joint line of the side plate

Todd HuffmanI just sold a couple of early Model 40's, one was a flat latch and the other a nickel plated gun. Both were probably 90% guns, but I hated the trigger pull on them. If I don't feel good about shooting one, I won't keep it.
I still have a couple of Model 36's, one is a 3 inch nickel and I love that one. The only one I carry is a 2 inch blued 36.
