School me on Evo Scorpions & their generations
I am aware the CZ Evo Scorpion has “evolved”.
Are there two generations or more?
What are the differences in features, etc between “generations”, and how can the generations be identified?
I have a 7.9” pistol that I think is the first generation, but am not sure. If it helps, the serial number is C1113xx.
Thanks in advance,
Scott

Easy way to check: The little cage style flash hider? Unscrew it. You should see threads for the barrel nut. If there's yet another thread protector under that flash hider, it's a Gen 2. They added 1/2x28 threads to these. If not, Gen 1. There's one more difference in the Gen 1's, and that's where the trigger pack has a welded screw. Pull the lower, look in the trigger pack. There's a bolt coming up from the inside of the trigger guard in the bottom of the lower. There will be a nut on the inside of the trigger pack. If the nut is not welded, it's an early one.

The 3+ just came out, and it's obvious to see, everything on the lower is different, looks like a subgun version of the Bren 2.

There will also be a two year production code on your bolt, on the far upper right corner as you look at it. Mine has "16" for 2016.

Following as a Scorpion may be my next purchase, just waiting to see how this pistol brace stuff works out.

From a practical point of view the differences are simply not meaningful in any way that I can conceive of. From one who has many of these. Unlike for example maybe MPX generations.
If you are buying one now and don't have an inventory of mags/parts there is simply no reason to not get a 3+. But if you have an earlier one there is not a single compelling reason to upgrade.

Thank you for the responses so far. Will check on mine with this information, but it sounds like mine is Gen 1.
So the 3+ is the third generation?
Do magazines work in all three generations?

The mag issue is that the new 3+ has ambi mag release. to do that the 3+ mag is different with a second slot. Its fully backward compatible, but the older ones need a bit of work (whole industry helping on that, jigs and machining) to work on the 3+.

Thank you.

I don’t think the welded screw in the trigger pack was a Gen 1/Gen 2 differentiator. IIRC, that was still going on for a while after they started introducing pistols with the newer barrels with the two thread pitches. The barrel threading was the difference.

Mag release is now like an AR.
Bolt release is relocated to be ambi
Grip is more AR style-better ergo
M lock rail system on fore end
Magwell flareed

Didn't fix safety
Mags are still compatable

HB Industries offers a lot of aftermarket products--grip, mag release and handguards that are not needed on Gen 3.

3+ is good to go out of the box. Ergos are great, even the safety due to the new grip. Only thing I did was add another factory charging handle so it is fully ambi. Well, that and a Timney trigger becasue they make one that fits the 3+ now. But the HBI spring kit is enough to get a decent trigger.

Old mags do not work in the 3+, just the new AR catch style ones. I haven't seen any factory 30's from CZ, just 20's. Magpul will catch up eventually.
