I expect to be sending in a P320C slide to Jager Works for red dot milling. Is recoating advisable? Their website appears to recommend it, but I am unclear. The slide is stainless.

They’re on a 20 week turnaround right now. Check other forums for people upset with Jagerworks.

I had Maple Leaf cut my Glock 45 and they just applied something called tool black to the milled area. Didn’t really need it since I tossed a light coat of lube before installing my rmr.

Thanks for the info on JagerWerks. Maple Leaf offerings look good, will probably go with them.

Maple Leaf also did the cut on my G19. I had them nitride the slide while it was there. In all reality it probably wasn’t needed. I more or less had it done as a precaution and I was having some holster wear.

Yes. I’d say it’s necessary. Moisture of all types can get into the cut and cause corrosion.

I just got my P365 done by Maple Leaf. Turnaround was 2 weeks as advertised. Since the slide is stainless I didn’t get it coated…but I’ll make a mental note to remove the optic in a few months to assess.

Has anyone had any experience with Hex Precision? They advertise that they included Cerakote or nitride refinishing with their optic cuts.

Check out C & H Precision in Georgia. Top quality machining and recoat.

They have done 3 different pistols for me and all were perfect. Quick turnaround.

I had never heard of them, but they're just South of Houston, so I may check with them.

This.
It is cheap protection.

If you are still looking for a place to get it done Mod1 does great work.

Why not just re-coat the milled area?
I know some shops advocate doing the entire slide but that seems over kill to me.
Just sayin'
