Hey all,

I've been shooting my CZ for some years now and alternate between carrying that and a Walther PPQ.

I'd like to put a smoother trigger on the CZ; as well as better sites. Is this something I can do myself from watching a few YouTube videos, or am I better off sending it out?

Any recommendations? I've seen lots of ads for Cajun Gun Works.

Thoughts?

To add -

Anything else I should consider?
Hammer or spring?

I take care of my pistols, but I won't even pretend to act like I can keep up with you guys when it comes to changing things out.

Thank you, gentlemen.

You absolutely can do it yourself. It may be slightly nicer if you send it to CGW but for me, the wait and cost was not worth it.

Apex has a good how to guide, I use their action kit in my Shadow 2 and TSO. I’m waiting for the B series kit to come back in.

Cajun would be my choice. My SP-01 Tactical has their floating trigger pin, reduced power trigger return spring, heavy lifter spring and a 15lb hammer spring with a 14lb recoil spring. Stock firing pin and firing pin return spring. I will be putting in the Cajun firing pin retaining roll pin. Works great for me and it’s been 100%.

I tried a pistol with the Pro Package kit competition only and it was very nice but not recommended for carry.

I did add a heavy duty stainless mag brake from CZ Custom.

I really like the Dawson sites if they make a set for your particular model.

On my covid vacation this is exactly what I did. I upgraded basically all my CZ’s with CGW’s stuff. I have one CZ that I bought straight from CZ Custom with a full blown trigger job and it was disappointing from the start. I also had a local gunsmith do a trigger job on a P01 using original parts and it was better than the CZC gun. Others have had good experience from them but while I will buy parts from CZC I would never pay them to do a trigger job ever again.

The CGW pro package is what I gravitated towards. I bought some of the parts individually but the package is where I ended up. Not only did I mod a couple guns I actually bit the bullet and junked the insides of that CZC gun to the CGW pro package. Instantly way better.

Watch the videos and if you want to, contact me or someone who has done it before you start. The first gun took me a couple days and a lot of swearing. The decocker sear cage is a bitch at first. That being said by gun number 5 I can literally put in the complete pro package in about 20 minutes. There are a couple hints, gotchas, and tricks that make it way easier. Also a spring (L lifter) that I would buy at least one spare because it is a tiny little 3 dollar spring that is easy to lose or destroy accidentally. In fact just yesterday I was sitting at my desk and found one that I had lost. Lol. Also buy the slave pin or make your own from a drill bit. I actually prefer their slave pin though because it isn’t hardened like a drill bit. It’s softer than the gun parts which is good.

Totally worth it. I will say that I took one gun and did a big fluff and buff before I added the pro package. I would love to say it made a big difference. Maybe if I had reinstalled the stock parts I would have noted a difference but by replacing the parts with CGW I really didn’t notice enough of a difference to waste my time polishing in addition to the pro package.

I changed all the sights and grips as well. I find CZ sights to be particularly poor from the factory. 2mm punch makes the front sight much easier than it looks to change out. LOK Grips are easily the best CZ replacement grip out there. I prefer the palm swell which mimics the factory rubber shape but that is personal preference. I have bogies, crosscut, mayhem, and roughneck variety. The only one I wouldn’t buy again is the crosscut. The others are all very good and grippy without being too grippy.

Like I said, if you are comfortable or want some advice, reach out for some tips. One in particular would have saved me a considerable amount of time building the sear cage. I watched the video but they sometimes lack clarity in their actual videography skills. Lol. So I was doing one thing way harder than necessary. Once I figured it out the installs went much quicker and smoother. To the point that I started experimenting with different springs in the cage which I wouldn’t have attempted early on unnecessarily.

Good luck. Well worth it. You end up with an all new gun. I did one and ended up doing 6 total over the last year. Moved a bunch of them up into “always take shooting” guns now from the back of the safe.

Only you know your ability to work with small parts that have to fit together just right. But CGW will sell you the parts and tools or do the work. There is also CZ Custom out in Mesa, AZ.

On the Brian Enos Forum there are some good instructions in the CZ section.

Is your gun a decocker or safety model?

If nothing else, change the hammer spring and put in the floating trigger pin and reduced power return spring. Probably $30 and would give you a good idea.

I spent some time with 600grit wet sandpaper and took off any excess finish but that’s about it.

I don't have any experience w/ them, but in addition to CGW, I've heard good things about MCarbo parts, and they tend to be less expensive.

If you want to get a truly crisp SA trigger pull on that gun, you pretty much need to replace the hammer. The stock pull on the 75D (aka PCR) has a good deal of "creep." If you pull the trigger in slow motion, you'll actually see the hammer move back a little bit during the first part of the pull before it actually falls. I elected not to do it on my P-01, and did nothing at all to my own PCR. I just lived with it.

CZCUSTOM or Cajun Gun Works. I just had a CZ75 stainless switched to SAO and trigger job as well as the rest of their magic by CZ Custom, it is incredible......the trigger is REALLY nice.
