Bruce 45/70Finally got something I’ve been wanting for quite some time – P226 Sport Stock
I own a stainless steel Sig 226 in 9mm. It isn't special but I carry it in the cooler months. I had the trigger worked on by Sig and it is very good. I have started attending classes again and it is my training pistol as well.

I don't know how many Sport Stocks came into the U.S. but I think the model you have is actually rarer believe it or not.
The last P226 in the U.S. to use the Sport Stock frame was the P226 SL sold by Afton Arms in the early 2010s. It was the exact same configuration as your model but its slide was German too and it was assembled in Germany.
The P226 Sport also used this frame, but it had that old proprietary rail cut into it to accept the match weight.
Thanks for the info., MacGyver. I didn't realize the Sport Stock has a bull barrel. Anyone who owns an all German Sport Stock has something special.

SIGWALLYI spoke to a Sig rep. from germany at shotshow many years ago. We had a long conversation about the 229 sport in stainless with the compensator on the end. Nice guy as he wound up sending me a new barrel and comp in .40sw to compliment my .357 Sig. There was one on display along with the Sport Stock , so I asked him about the dimples. He told me in the manufacture process The dimple was an extra spot that locates the frame in a fixture for certain pistols which gives those Guns a Slightly closer tolerance in the making of that pistol.

SIGWALLYOh P.S. I also purchased a sports stock. It is still new in the box with everything that comes with it and even the shipping sleeve. For some bizarre reason I can't bring myself to shoot it, Don't ask me why.

bac1023Very nice
I’ve always loved those pistols, but never owned one. I’ve got the set of Sport models, but not a Sport Stock.
