Alea iacta est |
So I’ll start off with, if you read my other thread, I am 100% getting the 365 Legion. Now I have to decide on a sight. I posted this here because in the lounge I think I would get a lot of advice from people who don’t actually own an RMR. I’m looking for really good, fact based knowledge like I received in my 365 Legion thread. I’m hoping to get a lot of answers. This will be on a concealed carry pistol and will only be used for self defense. (Aside of range days where it will only be shot at 10 yards or less. More likely 7 yards.) I’ll also say I don’t know anything about RMR sights. Literally nothing. I looked through one on a friends gun, but it was the cheapest thing he could buy (his own words) I have always wanted a Trijicon ACOG for my rifle, but I was very generously gifted an Aimpoint Pro from a forum member. I will spend the $$$ to get the best as I am basically building my grail pistol. I have always had an affinity for Trijicon, but are they really the best? I have been looking at all the Trijicon RMR. I like the idea of battery free and getting a dual illuminated that uses tritium and fiber optics for a battery free experience. The dual illuminated is only available in a 9 MOA dot. (Might be best for my eyesight)? The battery powered has 3.25, and 6. The 1 is too small. Is battery powered the way to go? I have to use readers 2.75 for anything within 6 feet of me. After 6 feet my vision is pretty fantastic. I just can’t see anything close without it being blurry. I feel that the 9 MOA would be easy to acquire and easier to see and put on target without glasses, as in a self defense situation, I’m most likely NOT wearing my readers. What do all of you with knowledge and experience have to say? The “lol” thread

That rug really tied the room together. |
Pretty sure an RMR wont fit on a lot of(all?) P365 models. Or is this about the RMR CC model? Which I believe is smaller. Also the RMR uses batteries. ______________________________________________________ Often times a very small man can cast a very large shadow

Thanks for bringing that up. It’s an RMRcc, I think, now that I’m researching more… but it looks like the RMR fits? See, this is where I need help. I’m not exactly certain what bolts up. The “lol” thread

The Blue Machine |
The Sig will need to be cut aftermarket for the RMRcc to mount to the slide. For direct mount in the OEM cut, look at the Holosun EPS carry or the SCS carry. The former is available with different reticle in red or green, and runs via battery power. The latter is only available in green, and runs via solar charging with no battery.

So the 365 takes an RMRC. That axes the Trijicon. The “lol” thread

My suggestions would either be the new Sig Romeo X Compact Enclosed or the Holosun EPS Carry. Both fit the footprint on the 365 and offer an enclosed construction. While a lot of people don't push enclosed emitter optics for concealment use, I find that my concealment guns end up with lint, dust, etc. in the optic enclosure. While function isn't truly affected, I end up blowing them out with air periodically. With an enclosed emitter, this is not an issue at all. The Holosun will probably be cheaper. Some folks do no like that they are Chinese. Both are good optics.

It's the Shield RMSC footprint that you're looking for. I believe holosun includes a plate to make their k footprint optics fit the RMS-C footprint Not minority enough!

RMRcc can be adapted to fit and might be your answer. If this is for a grail gun, the SIG Romeo X Enclosed Compact might be your answer. The model has been announced, but not available to order yet. I picked up a 365 Legion, and then a new Fuse with a Romeo X (not the enclosed model) this week at the gun store and was highly impressed with both guns and the optic. What's good about the Romeo X Enclosed: 1) It bolts straight onto any P365 without having a $70 adapter plate in the middle. 2) Assembled in Oregon, USA factory (there are some foreign parts in it). 3) The battery loads from the side. Whenever you put a new battery in, theoretically your zero should still be there. 4) Enclosed emitter, so the lense should stay cleaner from lint, dirt or rain. 5) Low deck height so you can co- witness with the sights that came on the gun. 6) Cosmetic for me but the Enclosed model does not have rear irons on it. The Legion already has nice sights and I think guns look dumb with 2 sets of rear sights next to each other. 7) Three different models with reticle options of: 3 moa dot 6 moa dot 2 moa dot with a 32 moa circle One con, its a $500 optic. For whatever reason, for the micro "1" slide pistols Trijicon, Leupold and Aimpoint haven't cracked the code to meet all these "Grail" requirements. One of the big reasons is the spaghetti mess of bolt on patterns. I hope this gets simplified soon. It looks like RMSc mount might be the micro gun winner, and if so the SIG P365 will be well positioned. If you want an optic today the P365 crowd favorite for good reason is the Holosun EPS Carry. It's $400, well regarded, with one con, made in China. If you'd asked about budget I would add Holosun 407k and 507k. SIG has a nice $400 open emitter Romeo X available now that is 5 of 7 in the pro category. This is for a Grail gun so EPS Carry or wait for the SIG Romeo X Enclosed Compact. I will have a Romeo X Enclosed soon. I have a few SIGs.

Only with the EPS Carry, unless something has changed very recently.

I thought my 407k came with a plate for my 43x. I don't remember. I've moved the 407k to something else and went back to irons on the 43x. Not minority enough!

Based on my trail and error, I recommend buying a name brand dot in your price range that will fit your slide without adapter plates. Don’t get hung up on needing a closed emitter dot. Pick an MOA size based on whether or not you prefer accuracy or speed. Larger is better for speed. Invest in the tools and time to mount it properly. Verify battery voltage with a DVM before installing it. This applies to first battery as well as all subsequent batteries. If you decide down the road that you want a different dot due to you learning more, they are very easy to resell. Buy it right, sell it right and the cost difference is easy to accept. Lastly, recommend picking the brains of guys that actually run them. You will find a lot of comments on all forums as to why guys “suppose” they are a liability. Come to your own conclusions.

Holosun 407k works directly on a 365, I know I have 2. Decent quality, hasn't had a blip yet and I'm comparing it to my Trijicon RMR on a Glock thats been there for years. Figure 250 or so, go green for older eyes, easier to see.

Thank you Very little |
Yes it's the Shield RMSC footprint for micro optics. Sig Romeo optics are pretty good, the glass is good, I have astigmatism and the Romeo line doesn't seem to have as bad a starburst for me. $139.99 retail, you can probably do better online Link Sig Romeo Crimson Trace CTS 1550 will fit. $179.99 retail Link CTS-1550 Holosun has plenty of options for that footprint, I have a 507K Red X2 that has both the dot and ring option. They have some that are solar charged. Check out Primary Arms you'll find plenty of options, decently priced, good CS Link RMSC Primary Arms To Add: I like the Ring/Dot combo on the Holosun, one of the harder things for me to adjust was finding the dot, it's a function of my presentation, grip etc that need improvement, having the ring I can see which way to move to get the dot in position. This message has been edited. I went with the holosun 507k. I'm thinking of switching it for the closed emitter version, I think it's the eps line but don't quote me. Holosun may be Chinese but It competes with all the name-brand-made reflex sights in my opinion. They come native for RMRC so it will just require an allen key to install with no plates or adapters. The 507k has performed excellently for me with my astigmatism. I also use reading glasses, 2.50 and with the sight I don't require any glasses as I'm looking 15 yards away through the window and the ring-dot doesn't really fuzz up for me. First In Last Out

I've completed numerous user—and instructor-level RDS courses. I run them on both my duty and off-duty guns. Stay with either Trijicon, Holosun, or Steiner. I have seen the Sig dots fail during classes enough to notice them. The 507K (in green) is a good starting point. Solid product that won't break the budget. Just my thoughts Sensitive and caring since August 2009 Some people are like a Slinky....not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you shove them down the stairs.

When I got in to the optic game I did my research and settled on Holosun. All of my weapons with optics wear Holosuns in green. I recently just tested out their warranty because I had a very early HE507C Green that the auto quit working on. Holosun replaced it with brand new HE507C green X2. Many guy at work like to argue about the Holosun being made in china. I always figured all of the guts of the trijicon are also made in china. But, regardless, I don't care. Holosuns work great for me. They cost less, I have more options on the sights and I don't have to remove any of them to replace the battery. YMMV

I am a Trijicon guy. With that being said my P365X wears a Holosun 507k. No issues at all with it. I liked the slightly bigger glass w/ the 507K vs. the Trijicon RMRcc. I have been hearing good things about the newer Vortex Defender series but, have no personal experience w/ them.

I carry a 365 X-Macro in an Enigma holster. Originally I had a Romeo X, but way too many issues to rely on it for SD. I now have a Holsom carry sight. It bolts on directly to the slide, is torqued to 15 in-lbs (as opposed to the Sig sight which is only 6 - and finicky about that). I use a 6 MOA green dot - MUCH FASTER to pick up (for me). Other + is battery can be charged without taking off the optic. Won’t have another X; too cheaply made and unreliable.
