I've always cleaned mine after every outing.
Sometimes it they sit there long enough, say 3 months of no shooting, I'll clean em up just to make sure they're not collecting dust, rust spots etc.

I clean after every range session unless I plan to shoot again within a few days.

It varies anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand rounds, depending on the gun and the plan..

As soon as I get home from shooting I must clean my gun, wipe down my magazines, and clean into the magazine as I pushed down the follower for my 9mm magazines. My 22 LR magazines are easy to clean since the side of the magazine is open.

I generally wipe my pistols down after every range outing. Ill add some gun lubricant then back to the safe they go.

Probably after 6 or so range trips I field strip and clean. Even then they are barely dirty. I do wipe down exterior metal after every handling with a cloth that has a little Breakfree CLP on it, just enough to put a sheen on the finish.

I quickly check lube before a range trip and if needed add a little but that usually does not need to be done. Easy to pull off slide assembly and put back on if that is needed.

Avoid doing this, especially in subject lines. Please take the time to type out the words "you" and "your" Roll Eyes

When it needs it. Some of the above is silly for most modern guns. But not likely to hurt anything.

Depends. Stainless and range use not so often but crud in blued ones can absorb moisture so if that’s your environment clean accordingly. For carry weapons my job trained us to clean after every use unless it could possibly constitute evidence destruction, obviously. It’s a good idea that will get you back with your family a lot quicker in the extremely unlikely event that your day goes exceptionally bad, vs having things start out confused because you have a “smoking gun” until subsequent tests show you’re OK.

Generally after every range session. If left in the safe, I wipe them down with BF about once a month.

Cleaning about once every few months perhaps. And when I do it is a 2-3 minute effort. Anything more is a waste of my time. Modern guns and modern ammo do not need as much maintenance as most people spend on them. If you want white glove inspection level clean and that is your thing by all means just be realistic that it doesn’t gain you anything from a dependability standpoint over a quick 2 minute “ good enough”
Another way to say this- if you need your gun spotless to depend on it something is wrong with it

I agree with this to some extent and for a very specific reason.

If I have a weapon that is so finicky that it won't function reliably unless it is perfectly cleaned and lubed then I will not trust it with my life.

Having said that, of course I want to keep a weapon clean, well maintained and lubricated.

But if it is sort of a "hangar queen" then I'll dump it.

I don't abuse my guns, but if the chips are down and my life is at stake, that weapon damn well better perform no matter what.

Every time I shoot I clean. I usually don't know when I am going back to the range so I'm more comfortable cleaning them after shooting. I enjoy sitting down and cleaning my firearms, I find it relaxing.

Same here. If I’m going through a few 100 rounds, I’ll typically run a bore snake 3 times down the barrel every 50 rounds after the first 100 rounds. Especially if the .22’s are working hard.

I used to be an every range trip type of guy but that was when I had very few guns.

Now that I routinely tote three or four to the range I’m much more liberal on my cleaning schedule. I’m much closer to several hundred rounds now unless it’s a carry gun.
