I just ordered an RMR for my MOS Glock and from my research looks like I need shorter screws, do I need bottom plate also?. Any help that I can get on how to properly mount the RMR to my MOS would be appreciated thanks.

Yes on both counts. The plate comes with the correct screws.

Trijicon plate, dielectric grease, blue locktite and the correct torque and you will be mint.
