Are you guys using these grips on any of your guns ?

And do they work for you better than other mainstream better brands, like VZ grips and the like ?

One solution that fails me is a 642 J-Frame that hits consistently left at 7 yds, no matter what gripping techniques or changes to gun/hand interface geometry I've used so far, and cannot find a solution. So I'm wondering if a larger grip with a palm swell could give me more control to resist whatever kind of gymnastics the gun is performing during discharge and whatever "follow through" I may or may not be doing, since I don't know anything about pistol follow through.

I don't have this problem with my other handguns that are known to shoot straight for me.

I see this company has a larger set of grips with palm swell, though I don't know if they would allow the gun to remain in my pocket after installing them. The last thing I want is a $125 failed experiment.

What say you about this company's offerings, if they offer anything better than everyone else in the grip aftermarket, and any similar situation with your own J-Frame, that you have or have not been able to solve ?

I have one on my CZ Shadow 2 Carry (not J frame). I like it. I also use their magazine base pad and magwell on the same pistol. Great quality.

They make some good stuff

LOK makes great stuff. As a rule I’d say you won’t be disappointed but since you are looking to solve a specific problem I am going to make a suggestion. If you haven’t already tried them, give a set of ugly ass, rubber hogue monogrips a try. Revolvers are very much a wood or other “interesting” grip and steel affair for me but on one of my 627’s that I was having some issues similar in nature I gave them a try and they were awesome and did everything I needed……I mean except for that whole looking like shit thing. (not throwing shade at Hogue. Fantastic product, nothing you can do about making rubber grips sexy).

I know a J frame is a different animal but it’s an inexpensive experiment to try if you haven’t already.

All that said LOK is easily the peer of VZ, they make great stuff.

For G10, I put LOK and Hogue as equal. Everyone else is second tier.

I have 2 P320 AXG's
One has Hogue grips and the other has LOK.
They are equal IMHO.

I have g10 from several makers, to include vz, lok, hogue, and some "not name" ebay grips. I think they all do a good job of fitting and texture. Its usually a matter of which outfit makes grips for the particular firearm in question and who is running the best sale when I buy.

To add, most of my lok grips are on either cz or beretta firearms. Prefer the golf ball texture, boguies i think, and the palm swell is nice on czs.

While different grips may help the symptom a little, the underlying cause of your issue is the long 12+ pound DA trigger pull on a S&W 642. It is not conducive to accurate shooting, especially for less experienced shooters and/or those without significant hand strength. You're having to crank down so hard with your trigger finger through the trigger pulls that it's throwing off the rest of your basic fundamentals like your grip and sight alignment.

You can either put a lot of work into improving your hand/finger strength and eventually developing a smooth straight-back trigger pull, or you can swap your 642 for any number of other similar sized - or smaller - modern handgun options that have significantly lighter and shorter trigger pulls. (And better sights. And greater capacity. And faster reloads. And a better performing caliber. And...)

LOK is top tier. I have several on my CZs. I’d be willing to bet it’s the gun or heavy trigger. I had a 442 that shot about 4 feet, yes FEET, high at 15 yards. No grip or trigger job will fix that.

I like the LOK grips that I have on my P938.

The 938 comes from the factory with ambi safety, which I do not like; it has been converted to the P238 style single side safety. LOK is the only grip supplier that I have found, that offers grips for the P938 that has the conversion to single side safety.

I have them on my p320 AXG. I like them very much.

Yeah, Sometimes the factory gets it wrong. My 340 shot about 3 feet to the right from the factory. Sent it back and now it only shoots about 12" to the right at 18 yards, which they said was within spec. Pretty much worthless past 5-7 yards.

SCI is pretty good too (the Classic Carry and Select grips), but I don’t think they make anything that you can just buy directly from them.

SIG Sauer pistols are a great platform to judge the quality of the various brands of G10 grips because of their “open” mainspring area (i.e. the grips have to wrap around the back and meet each other in the middle, versus a 1911, CZ, or Beretta, where it’s just two simple panels on either side).

I have LOK grips on a P238 and 938. They look great and work well. Now the best looking grips, if they are to your taste, are the Wicked Grips. Not so functional though.
