I bought this P220 Elite Bi-Tone W220-45-SP NOS/NIB on Gunbroker b/c price was OK in this market and I had lost 5 bids on P220 Nitrons over the prior several weeks so BIN was attractive. Research suggests this was issued as a 4.4” barrel but I am assured by the seller it is a Carry length 3.9” barrel and pix agree. Brushed Stainless slide engraved Elite, black frame, E2 grips, 2 8rd mags, oil in plastic, box + papers.

Either length is OK by me and I’ll know tomorrow, but any observations, criticisms, wisdom, SigSense you can offer will be appreciated. Looks like a typical Sig one-off, perhaps one batch, all on Feb 28 2019.

It's hard to observe anything, when you don't even have a pic. Razz
But, based on the GB pic I managed to find, if it's the same gun, then it's definitely a Carry size, not full size. the "W" denotes a gov/LE contract gun that typically comes with 3 mags. The "SP" means Special Configuration, meaning whatever spare/extra parts in the bin SIG in NH managed to cobble up to make the complete gun, in this case, the Elite slide on a non-Elite frame. But, some other times, the SP guns are truly special, made to order, guns.

Is this it? Nice looking gun.

Silly me. Yes, that’s the one. Thanks for the response. I was sure it was Carry, not full, but contradicted by Gun Genius, showing 4.4” for that product# and SKU.

I was originally looking for a good P220 Nitron. Too late, I guess. I don’t particularly need the Elite beavertail, nor probably the 4.4” barrel, and certainly can live without Cerakote and fancy grips.

At this stage I just need/want a safe, shootable .45 with the same manual of arms as my others, IOW decocker. If it actually has the SRT kit w/o the Short Reach Trigger that’s a bonus.

Whatever - it will be an interesting and useful addition that could double as a carry if I choose.

I’ll post up some actual pics when I get it.

Here is some more info on the actual model, with several pics.

Thank you - I had seen that webpost. It describes 4.4” barrel in pix headings and 3.9” in text, one of the contradictory sources (some sources show 3.9” barrel) which I why I have asked for wisdom. Also shows 2 mags in pix (grip is empty) but quotes 3 in text. IMO this is a Sig one-off - probably a single batch run on 2-28-2019 - and they uploaded incorrect info.

Note that it doesn’t matter to me which barrel length this gun has. I expect the carry length and I can always trade up or buy another later. I count such (net) expenditures as training/learning expense.

Yeah, that Part Number in itself doesn't really tell you anything more than it's a SP gun. As I said above, it could be anything. Just go by the actual photos of the gun for sale, which, in your case, seller showed the Carry length.

I have two SP P228 models, in completely different configurations, one with stainless-slide-alloy-frame and the other with stainless-frame-carbon-steel-slide. Both have the identical Part Number, E28-9-SP.

I received the gun and it is satisfactory, except the E2 grips are pretty awful (decocking makes a hollow thumping sound) and there was no grip removal tool included. I’ll either replace the grips and add SRT kit while they’re off or just consign it at my LGS as a lesson learned.

Don't need the grip removal tool. Can pry the edge apart with just your fingers or with a CC.
