Good Morning Gentlemen, I try not to bother you Folks here with routine questions which I van usually solve myself with a little research, but, as my Dog's are currently in storage, I figured this would be where I should look. Quick, @>>> Confirmation Regarding the 'Interchangeability' [ if any ] of Sig [ MecGar Mfg. ] P.226 [ # UU-6206XX, January 2005 Mfg. ] .357 / .40 ~ 10 Rd Magazines with my P.229R-DAK [ # AM 296XX, February 2005 Mfg, 'allegedly', as per Sig. ] I have 3x NIB 10 Rd MecGar Magazines for the P.226 .357 / .40, & 'think' they might fit & function within my particular P.229R-DAK, as noted above ? I do recall reading various assorted issues concerning the P.226 Mag's being somewhat 'thinner' then the P.229's however most reviews did confirm their functioning, albeit with some sloppy fit concerns. Soooo, as I can't actually look into this issue right now, could anyone here advise me 'if' they should work properly, or I should be concerned ? As always Guys, any & all Replies will be very much appreciated ! THANK YOU, Best, Dom P. / 'dpast32'

As you already mentioned the internal magazine well of a P229 in .40 or .357 is slightly wider than the magazine well of any P226. P226 magazines should insert and function OK in a P229 .40 / .357 but there will be a slight wobble. P226 magazines are also longer than the P229 grip so they will stick out. Take care to not forcefully over-insert the P226 mag. IMO using P226 mags like that is fine for the range but for carry, self-defense, or anything else serious get proper P229 magazines for your P229.

10-04 on that my Friend, & THANK YOU ! I had initially intended on obtaining both, but I started recalling that I had heard something regarding this issue, so figured I'd ask just to confirm one way or another. At this particular point, it's become an money issue on my end. Because of my State's 'late night' special session, the deemed that no one, excepting full time, currently active LEO's were exempt. Since I Retired after 32 years with the State, I apparently are no longer of value to them, so screw me, along with all the others. I don't have to tell you just how expensive quality Factory, or nectar Magazines can be, & I now need them for all my Sig's, Glock's, & so on. I just ordered 3 MecGar 10's for my last Duty weapon, an P.226R-DAK in .40, & now should also pick up 3 for my P.229R-DAK also. Fortunately, by default my 'old faithful' P.220 in .45 acp happens to be exempt, thankfully, but my P.228 isn't, so there's another 3 to pay for !! I honestly never thought I would see it happen here in America, but it has !! So, my THANKS again for your kind reply, it was most appreciated. Best regards, dpast32

Is there a grandfather clause for mags that were manufactured before the mag capacity limit legislation?

Negative on that !! We used to be exempted, up until that aforementioned 'late night' session at our State House. I honestly can't even write about without vomiting. Everyone State wide has about 90 days to either Destroy, Sell to an FFL Dealer, Turn it to local Law Enforcement, or ship out of State to some Non-Communist, ohh excuse me, I mean a Non Democrat State for storage. A great many residents have amassed a great many Magazines over the years, especially us 'Gun Types'. But, our Democratic Party Legislators decided the matter for us, all behind closed doors at approximately 0200 hours !! Sound familiar ? Best, Dom P. / dpast32
